Portland oregon

Yo since i live in portland I thought i'd try posting some question I had in a local thread. Ill start off by saying im competent in my ability to learn, but i dont have a lot of experience with cars.

My first question is if its worth it to do a SAS swap on a '01 4runner? Would the center diff locker make it more complicated/costly? i ask this because if another year is easier or better ill probably sell it for a more ideal year .

or do you think if its going to be my daily driver, should i just do a nice set of coilovers and give it all the support i can while still using IFS?
If you are asking this question SASing any vehicle is way beyond your league/skill set and mean not to mention you will not use its potential.

IFS will get you any place that you need to go.

Here is a IFS truck on waterfall (a trail out at TSF) a double black trail.

If just have to have a SFA truck then buy a 85 or older truck.

^This.
An sas is not something to be jumping into not knowing much about it. If you are not, you need to know someone who is very good at welding. When my rig was ifs, I kept up with my buddies that are sas/fsa no issue. I was locked front and rear at the time.

If you are looking to have a shop do it for you, I hope you have deep pockets.

There are not one - but two e-locker equipped 4runners at Turner pic-a-part. I bought one of the switches just because of the rarity but is someone needs it let me know.

One is a Black Limited Auto - I think a 99 that took a hit in the front passenger QP. Still has engine, trans, diffs, interior is the tan leather but it looks a little worse for the wear.
The other is a SR5 Auto in light blue with cloth - but has the options package that gets it the diff lock. I think it is a 98. It took a hit in the rear end. Has a spacer lift with original 16 inch wheels on 285/75's. It actually looks like it could drive off. You can just see the wheels, tires, and nerf bars on the left side of the pic of the black one.

geohil are the 99 headlights smashed up?

With the front QP panel hit a mount could have been busted but I think I remember the lenses being intact. They probably have more in inventory too.
I'm using 99 headlights on my 97 and it was a huge increase in light.

Well 7AM is a bit of a stretch for me, but i'd be down to meetup in the AM somewhere over there on Sta or Sunday....

It's on standby for right now. As of today there is a off road ban due to extreme fire danger. :redbrick: Hopefully this gets lifted before the weekend.
