hello folks
im not in the Portland area. I am a park ranger at Clear Lake resort...near sisters...not the one on mount hood
this place is absolutely beautiful
anyway..
Im new to 4runners and now mine is pretty stock ( wont stay that way I think)
but I would love to meet other 4 runner owners and see their mods
so if any of you travel this way...my name is josh..I work 14 hour days Wednesday to Saturday night and then move out and explore old logging roads
winter im here usually 7 days a week
come in and say howdy if your in the area

Since I'm running dangerously without a spare I'll mount a snow tire on one and get it underneath my runner tomorrow. THANKS!!!

Welcome Josh! I love that area. The Mackenzie River is one of my favorite places in Oregon and there are so many hidden treasures there from the common stuff to hidden caves and hot springs.

I will be camping down at Paradise mid August and will definitely stop by with the 4runner and say hi.

Definitely welcome aboard. This is a great forum with a lot of great experienced T4R guys out there. I've done a lot of climbing at Smith Rocks (No never the monkey hang) I used to be a 5.10b/11a trad on the sharp end, now...haha...not a chance! I'm probably a 5.9 second. Hiked Sisters a few years ago. I'm heading to Mt Adams again in a couple of weeks then up to Alaska. Would love to do the bike ride from Sisters to Smith one day with my family. I'll have to look you up when I'm down there.

Make sure you take care of the "usual suspects" on the T4R. IE: radiator, LBJ, O/I TRE, TB and pump, tundra brake upgrade, good synthetic oil. Lots of discussion on here on which is best etc. Amsoil, Mobil1...etc. Prioritize your upgrades and search the links. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Some of these guys have put together some great informative links.


BTW is that an Imperial Jade Mica?

Interesting, the CL posting says the 17" wheels came off his 2008 Sequoia. Funny thing is from what I just researched, the base came with 18" wheels. Limited came with 20". Pretty sketch if you ask me. Red flags always go up when CL postings are mis-leading. Thinking I might pass...despite the fact they might be 17" in perfect condition. hwell:

Paradise is a popular one , and not far from a "warm" springs not on the books
hopefully you swing by on one of the days im working, otherwise...im lost in the woods

yep a lot of these things are on my list for this summer
the only thing I am hesitant on is the synthetic oil. I have had lots of older cars and motorcycles that after I put in synthetic, I would develop oil leaks, switch back to dino and oil leaks go away

I was just up at McKenzie River a few weeks ago. Hiked 14 miles with the girlfriend around Clear Lake and then further on. Awesome area!

If you have any quiet local spots you would want to show us we would love it!

Thanks [MENTION=100687]Konkordmusk[/MENTION] and [MENTION=88597]MyHigh[/MENTION]. I'm now the proud owner of a set of Sequoia split five wheels. A few are little dinged up (slight curb damage) but overall not bad. Well worth the $200. He wouldn't budge off the price. Will mount up some snow tires and have em ready for winter. I still have my original 16" coke bottles I'll wrap up and put in storage.

Just a thought, I'd put the snow tires on the original 16" wheels and save the 17s for summer/all season/all terrain tires. But thats just me.

Because the 17's just look :dancin:

Also my reason for doing the 16 for winter tires is, you would get more sidewall with the smaller rims and that equals more forgiveness when sliding around bumping curbs and stuff.

not to mention tires are cheaper in 16", and and the 17s will give you more preferable handling characteristics that will never be seen in snow or inclement weather, but would be noticed in dry weather.

I've been thinking about that as well. I have a cpl of months to figure it out. Those sequoia wheels are pretty nice. Almost like them better than my level 8's.
