I'm going to be buying the timing kit off ebay as well as valve cover gaskets and a fuel filter very soon so I wanted to see if there was anyone around here who could help? I feel bad for Elton because I always ask him for help.

I would rather not take it to the dealership but might have to if no one can help.

If I'm available, I'd love to help. I have to do my timing belt soon. But I won't be a HUGE help as I've never done one of these. But I will be another pair of hands.

doug i think your motor might require some special tools not sure as i have never been into one before... same with the 3.4 ive never done a timing belt on one of theses yet so not sure if there are/is a special tool needed or not, i will call my father inlaw and ask him and see if he has one at home i can barrow and if so i too will help. maybe we can install my skids too if they are back from the PCer. still waiting to hear back from my contact on actual set price and when i can bring them down

The SST tool is nice, but isn't required to do it for the pulley system. Just makes life easier. You can actually do it with out ;p

I sadly am leaving this weekend for 2 weeks and when I get back I have a store opening and so I'm going to be slammed for the next month and a half. So I wont be around much but you guys better wheel and post pics so I at least can live vicariously through you.

Ya man. I haven't been on much lately cuz I have been in Mexico since the beginning of July. Not much for me to report on here, besides the fact that 4runners are very rare in all generations. I have seen 1 1st Gen 4runner, 2 3rd Gen 4runners, and 1 4th Gen. And this is all while I have driven from the border as far south as Puerto Vallarta. Pretty Crazy.

i haven't drove my 4runner in over 3 months now poor thing i feel bad for it but its needs some work

ya i never did a t belt job either but the 4x4 wire write up was very helpful and i put like 10k on my truck so far zero issues

and 05 if you need the tool to hold the crank let me know ive also got a 250lb tq wrench too

I'm down here for pleasure. I have a friend that lives in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico (Bout 3 hour drive south of El Paso, TX) and so I come down every summer for about a month to live here, get some immersion, and chill with all of his family. It's a good time. This time we drove down to Puerto Vallarta for a week for a family reunion thing so that was like 16-20 hours each way. Im back in pdx in a week though....so some wheelin' needs to be in my future

Whats up Portland..Just ordered a daystar lift for my truck. Anyone gona be around this weekend that could possibly help install it? Beers on me no doubt. I have a 04 sport with Xreas obviously and wouldn't mind a helping hand from someone that has actually seen or done this before. I was talking with A10MileHusker and he said post up here when I'm ready looks like hes outa town this weekend though.. I got the tools and a garage to work in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have studied damn near all the write ups on the install but figured you guys have seen it and could probably make my life a lot easier with a few tips and tricks.. Let me know whats up gentlemen?

Dang, I'd love to come and help, but I have a business trip to San Diego this weekend and have rented a beach house on the PDX coast for my family next weekend, but ANY time after that I am good for the entire month of August and most of September.
