so my family is in need of a new second car, right now i drive an 08 t4r and my wife drives an 03 kia sportage, the kia has to go.....
my wife loves driving my 4runner so the debate is either giving her that and getting something new for me or keeping the 4runner for myself and getting her something new.
she has been looking at either a toyota rav4 or a subaru forester both newer or brand new.
i have been looking at a 4 door wrangler unlimited and recently a diesel pickup quad cab.
we def need 4 doors in whatever we get as we have 2 new babies.
today at work i spotted a nice trade in.
2006 ford f250 turbo diesel i think it has the 6.0 motor
also has navigation, a rear dvd player, banks power controller, and banks exhaust. the truck has around 100,000 miles on it.
i believe we own this truck for mid teens so i could proably get it for under 20k is this a good buy or should i steer clear? i have never owned a diesel before

I say keep the 4runner for yourself and get her an 09+ Forester 2.5 turbo. Smaller than the 4Runner but way more capable than the Rav4, in my opinion.

if we do a forester she will not be getting a turbo, i work for a subaru dealer and the turbo is nowhere near worth the pricetag.

Why would you buy an outdated, about to be replaced Forester?? I would wait for 2014 Forester. Otherwise, why not consider the 2013 Subaru Outback?? It has most (if not all) of what the 2014 Forester has in a higher-end vehicle (quieter, better interior, etc). And as of right now, the Subaru Outback is more efficient than Forester despite being bigger and heavier. And there is an H6 option available. If you want cheap, then get the Subaru Crosstek.

Remember, gas prices are going up. And diesel prices will keep rising along with Premium gasoline price. Do you really want a big diesel truck? Now, if you tow or in the construction business, then go ahead. But otherwise, why get another gas guzzler?

she has a thing against stationwagons, so the crosstrek and outback are out.
i dont think that the H6 is worth it, dont get much more power at all.

the diesel was just an idea, i have always liked the idea of turbo diesel trucks but have never owned one, i do a little hauling stuff around, and i hunt and shoot so im in the woods or on dirt roads/trails fairly often, i dont think that i would really need an f250 but if the price is right why not over an f150 or something similar. it is a quad cab short bed so it isnt overly huge

How is this a station wagon?? This is no different than a RAV4.
