Possibly A New Owner Of An 03 4Runner Sport :D

There's an 03 4Runner Sport with only 83,000km/51,000miles, everythings mint. The only issue I have with it right now, it has a bit of rust on the frame and etc. Should I be concerned? It drives smoothly, and very quiet! I do plan on keeping the vehicle for awhile.

Another thing thats kinda bugging me are the side claddings....they're not painted. I'm sure a body a shop can paint the side claddings with no issues.

The price is too good to let go! LOL!

This truck just really needs a bit of TLC, and I happen to detail cars as a hobby...lol! What do you guys think?

Hard to say! You did not say how much it's going for.
A little surface rust underneath on the frame is common. Both of my 03's have some and I have a lot more miles on them.

I think you could get a better deal than that. I paid 14,000 US for my 03 Limited V8 4x4 with every option from a Toyota dealership in September.

As far as painting the cladding, not a good idea. The grey cladding is heavily textured and that texture would show through the paint. The paint may match the rest of the vehicle in color, but the texture would throw it way off. You probably would wish you had left it the way it is.

Rust is common under the car. I have 03 and had a lot of rust, just repainted with matte undercoat looks like new now.

This is not a Sport. It is SR5. (-$3000 in your case) Make sure it has sunroof, homelink, leather wraped wheel and knob, steering wheel controls and upgrated seats fabric. Your body MUST be all the same color as well. If you are missing any of those you have been cheated.

You can read on the side door, it says SR5.

So someone pry put a wrinkle in the SR5 hood and put a Sport Ed hood on it.

I think this is a sport that they changed the badging to say sr5 for some reason, probably in an accident and maybe the shop thought sr5 meant sport? otherwise they would have had to switch the hood, wheels, and mirrors (sr5 are black).
but yes, what color is your interior? black seats are sport, light grey (or tan) are sr5

The interior seats are black.

Drove it for a bit more yesterday all around the city....I'm falling in love with it! Drives so smoothly compared to my old RSX and current Tacoma.

If you drive down ANY gravel roads, DON'T get the flares painted. The paint will chip off and it will look like crap in no time flat. Even if all you do is highway driving I wouldn't suggest painting them. Because its a Canadian model, I think the SR5 is the Sport model (judging by the 17" rims and hood scoop that is) The badging is different from a Candian one vs US model. It does look good though, so I would say go for it!

Here is another thought...
They may have made different variations of Sport edition, who knows... If you like it take it. I agree that unpainted cludding more practical. Looks cheap though. IMHO. Again, if you like the vehicle - take it. You will enjoy it!

Alright, congrats. I really love the sport alloy wheels. That is really super mileage, meaning it is quite low. My 04 had 41,000 miles on it when I bought it in Nov. of last year, it has over 47,000 miles on it now. I expect to keep my 4Runner for a long time.

I toally agree. In my opinion, they are the one of the nicest stock alloy rims I've seen in a very long time on any SUV/Truck. 17" is a nice size to. 20's are a little unpractical when it comes to replacing tires! ($$$)

A few minor things with the 4Runner like the drive shaft clunk, seat rattle, and a few others that I cant think of right now. Have fun with it!
