Possibly no 6th gen till 2025?

I would almost guarantee the Tacoma will be out as a 2024 MY along with the Grand Highlander and it's rumoured the LC300 is coming back for the '24 MY.

I cannot see Toyota launching the 4Runner the same year as the Tacoma. When the new Prado is released it will give good insight into what the new 4Runner will look like.
I am planning on buying a 2024. I want the last year of the 5th gen.

Grand Highlander is entering production very soon, likely in May 2023. TX is July 2023 Job 1. I am more confident about source's claim, although no official announcement yet, because TMMGT capacity is expanding to top out at 6 times its initially planned capacity during construction. It's designed to build 300k units, in addition to TMMBC at 165k to 170k

It's been likely a 2025 MY for a few months now. It was in July of this year when Toyota pushed the start of production date from 2023 to now September 2024.



From my sources I don't see anything about Tahara being shut down.



Tacoma should start production on August 2&3 in Mexico this year, so likely a 2024 MY.

Grand Highlander just recently got pushed back from May 2023 to June 2023, likely still a 2024 MY.

As I've spent the past 4.5 days in the land of sparkly new 70-Series down under (1 day ahead of you all), I realize Toyota replacing it. The next Tacoma is showing up somewhere as a November 1, 2023 Job 1, but I'm not sure if that is 100% yet. It's new info. That could mean a December 2023 launch or early January 2024.

4Runner, is as you know a little ahead of that estimate you gave. It's good to be on the safe side, in case it's delayed again.

Ben Hardy (youtube goof) is saying the 2024 4Runner will be cancelled to make production room for the Land Cruiser. Pure speculation being sold as a fact to boost his channel.

There has been a few models that were temporarily shelved like the Camaro.

He's wrong, as 930B and 930D are still in development, just like 920B (Tacoma).

My guess is the chip shortage. Next gen 4Runner likely to have more computing power for hybrid, airbags, sensors, etc.

They already sell every unit the can produce. Why upgrade when the chip shortage would limit production?

I joined awhile back to cross shop between a Jeep JL and a 4Runner. And its funny to think back to 2020 that I thought the 6gen was right around the corner…

Crazy thought, is Toyota looking to merge the 4Runner ‘brand’ with the “Land Cruiser” brand here in the US. Land Crusiers always sold poorly, and the “Toyota” 4x4 space is getting crowded. Cross branding them would allow the 4Runner to go up-price to straddle the Sequioa space. Maybe even bring back the FJ with even more vintage LC visual clues.

I know in the Toyota-verse this would be heresy, but to the American market the blur is already there. It would also explain the long wait for the 6G4R, and the recent teasing of the return of LC to the US.

FJ Cruiser was largely based on the 4th gen 4Runner. It got updated when the 4th gen evolved to the 5th gen. It was a 4Runner with shorter wheelbase with better break over, approach and departure angles. I don't see why the Land Cruiser couldn't come back as a more off-road focused 4Runner. Maybe add something like removable roof panels a la Hummer EV to further differentiate. Just don't let Calty design it this time. Some major compromises with the FJ Cruiser shape.

IMO, you guys wanting 5th Gens need to just buy them now, otherwise you're going to miss out or have to settle for one you didn't want when the 6th Gens arrive because all the 5th Gens will have been purchased.

I disagree. I'd wait until dealer prices come down (and hopefully interest rates).
I don't think you'll see a 6th gen until end of 2024 so you've got 18 more months.

Several websites have been updating the projected release date. electriccarhindime . com posted this on July 9; "...it is also likely that the Toyota 4Runner will be up for order later this year." They also expect deliveries to start in calendar year '24.

Again several websites have projected pricing by using '23 MSRP plus inflation. electriccarhindine is projecting the following. I think these are Low.

I know this may sound petty but a huge deal breaker for me is if Toyota decides to ditch the option of having the rear window roll up and down. It's extremely convenient and something that is now unique to the 4runner with the new Sequioa removing that feature as well.

I was hoping to see it in '22, no luck, really thought it would happen in '23, wrong again.....however I NEED to replace my '10 so (sadly) if there is not a new one for '24 I will have to go another route. Toyota does not care about me personally or the other few like me in the world, I get it, but I will need something before this winter. I know these are all rumors so I will cross my fingers. I don't want to stray elsewhere but if it does not come out for '24 who says it will in '25 or on.

Best to start looking now for a replacement, the 2025 6th gen 4Runner will not be revealed until Q1 2024 and will not be in dealers showrooms until Q3 2024.

Sequoia was selling something like 5k per year by the end of the last generation. It didn't have 120k buyers per year that were used to that feature. Since the Sequoia is more of a people hauler with a small cargo area behind the 3rd row, I can see where buyers might like the speed of the lift glass over the roll down rear window. Basically, I'm saying that it is 2 different buyers and the way that those buyers use the rear glass is a little different. I load and unload stuff through the rear glass when I have to (bikes on the hitch carrier, for example), but I primarily use that opening for air flow. IMO, we will keep roll down rear glass for the 6th gen.

That is just another misinformed salespersons mistaken belief or outright lie. Salespeople are the absolute last to know. Management wants them to sell what is on the lot today, not in the future. If they told you about the future, they may lose a sale.

The 2025 Toyota 6th gen 4Runner will be revealed in Q1 2024 and launch in Q3 2024.

For everyone who says there will be no new 6th gen 4Runner, because Toyota has not spoken, you can finally have it.
