Wow 21 pages of great pics of Desert Dune Runners, well I can now join this thread.
Got a call from my cousin who asked if I would be interested in his 4runner. Bad clutch, leaky and a lot of miles 255k. But he only wanted $500 if I bought it. So I jumped on it and drove the 2 hours today to pick it up. It's gonna need some love but I couldn't believe it when I got there. It's a 2000, Desert Dune, SR5, 5-speed, 4x4, with rear Locker. I can not believe it. So happy!!!
It has been his work truck for the last couple of years and it is filthy but the body is straight and the interior is all there and not torn or broken. I am still pinching myself.

Congrats! That's a great find! 5 speed with locker for $500! Put a Marlin HD Clutch in her & she's Golden!

I don't know. The 1985 22re fuel injected solid axle 4runner is pretty nice.

Mine when I picked her up... 1998 Desert Dune SR5, 2WD, 266k... Was a one-owner, dealer maintained vehicle.

Removed my running boards yesterday to address some corrosion on the pinch welds. I miss the practical application of them and might put them back on once the rust is repaired properly.
Ive kept mine on, they act as big mud/snow flaps

Nothing done to it so far. Running boards got all beat up. Needs ground clearance ASAP.

Right now this is its best angle. Just got a used engine (~200k) put in by ToyRunners in San Luis Obispo after month of being non operational. I finally have a running 4Runner! Now how he he'll do I get this 4WD indicator off (I got it in H with button depressed)? Am I missing something? None of the solutions on the forums have worked.
