Automatic dq in my area. Most cities in our area require they can be covered by uniform.

ya might as well, i find any excuse as well. I've been needing more work for awhile now, but everytime i save i end up having to use the money elsewhere.

I know the feeling. I had everything I needed to finish my sleeve saved, and then decided to use it towards hiking the AT in a couple months instead. Had to scrape funds together for this.

So since I got my new one on my wrist, any ideas how to break the news to my parents about this one? They will freak out and think I am an idiot since I don't have a job yet they will think this will prevent any chance of getting a job.

Where a watch! Where long sleeves! Learn to use make-up concealer! All three will cover your wrist. Things today aren't what they were 40 years ago. Tattoo's are slowly becoming more acceptable and more common in the work place. My parents always told me that if I got one just make sure it could be covered up. That meant no tattoo's on my neck or higher, and my hands. Everything else can be covered up.

You should also get a job! In my eyes, if you don't have a job you shouldn't have money for tattoo's.

Why does it matter if they freak out? It's not for them, right? I knew my mom would freak out a bit when she saw mine (which she did). But, she's gotten used to it, even has said multiple times that she likes it.
 
Ive been thinking about getting a tattoo recently. Have thought about getting one for awhile, my family crest on the inside of my right forearm. My wife didn't like people that tattoo their name on themselves. But since we are separated and its heading downhill from there, I've really been thinking about it again recently. With entering the single market again soon it really seems chicks are into tattoos, so I guess that could be a bonus. Also want a Celtic cross on my left forearm.
The only issue is I don't really know/trust any artists around where I live.

Before I got mine I decided that I would figure out a design and location. Then once I did that I would wait for a year and if at the end of a year I still felt good about both, I would get them. There were several ideas that didn't make the cut and looking back, I am very glad I wasn't more impulsive. I would also say to do your research and pay for good work. This is something that is going to be on you for the rest of your life (unless you get laser removal), so it's not something I'd ever try to find a budget deal on.

Oh yeah. I'm definitely not shopping around for the cheapest price. I'm going to have to ask around to a few people I know who have several tattoos and see who they suggest.

I wouldn't necessarily ask who people suggest,sometimes people are dedicated to an artist who isn't even that good. Ask someone who has Badass tattoos who they got their work from. High price doesn't always mean quality work,not does lower Price mean crap work.

Find a reputable shop and go and talk to them. Any good shop will have a portfolio of the artists work for you to look at. Find a artist whose work you like and talk to them. For large pieces the guy I use is $125 an hour (4 hour minimum), and here is his work. Good artists aren't hard to find, and prices will very between them all.

what i did before i got my first one (I've had a few more since) is i went to a local shop, and asked to sit in on someone getting a tattoo done, watch the design process, layout, tattooing, and initial care. i was able to get a real good feel for how the artists are, and i gained a lot of trust doing that. the biggest bonus from it all is that i found out my go to artist drives a 4runner :D
