Sweet ride.

I've got a 97 4runner and am also considering a new Trail Edition. What are your impressions on moving from the 3rd to 5th gen?

Do it... I loved my 97 and I put a lot of blood, sweat and love into that truck. The only thing I miss is a manual transmission. I actually almost went with a Tacoma just so I could have the manual. I do feel slightly less connected to the way the 5th gen drives versus my 97. The 5th gen has been refined quite a bit.

The 5th gen is bigger, more comfortable, WAYYYYY better stereo system with JBL soundsystem and its nice to have all the technology bits (ipod adaptor and NAV). Also the KDSS is sweet, so no quick disconnects and it comes locked and ready to rock.

So many mean looking offroad Trails, all so...shiny and onroad looking (hehe). So Gay

I havent taken many action shots of my truck... but heres a dirty one from trying to get to some singletrack off the beatin path.

I placed these in chronological order to capture the evolution of my 4R.

Mostly stock with the exception of KM2 MT's (Pony Express Trail):

Removed the roof rack (Pony Express Trail):
1.jpg

Tinted (I've been meaning to put a darker tint on the rear windows but haven't got around to it yet) (Moab Potash Road):
3.jpg

No change from the previous pic, but I thought the snow almost-tunnel at 12k ft was cool (Colorado Stony Pass):
5.jpg

Lifted, roof rack upgraded, rock sliders (Moab 3-D Jeep Trail):
9.jpg

New wheels (XD Addicts) and took off the axe and shovel mounts because I found a good place to store them inside (Colorado Telluride Area):
10.jpg

These last 2 are from the same set-up and outing as the previous picture, I just really liked the fall colors.

She's seen me through some pretty sketchy conditions and left me alive to tell the tale! :D

HELL YEAH!! That and surfing are exactly what I bought my TE for.

My mods will be coming in the next two months. Fuel Boost 18x9, Duratracs, Wet Okole seat covers, Bilstein suspension, AFE, weatherbeaters (ordered) and some sort of headlight mod (HID?).
The unfortunate side is that its going to be very close to a couple others I've seen on here, its the downside of being deployed so much. I get around that by thinking that its how we all thought the "stock" look should have been in the first place. :)

I did a double take on this pic. At a glance it looks like there's a big hole in the windshield on the driver's side...

Haha, I posted this picture a while ago on a different thread and someone said the same thing. It's the reflection, man. I think it's being caused by one of those rock formation blocking out the sun there.

Here's mine for now. Lift, wheels, tires, Gobi?, sw sliders, HID are all in the near future.
As far as lift goes, who recommends what? I'm looking at either the Toytec Ultimate or Icon Stage 1 or 2

Egstyle, what type of lift do you have?

Icon front and rear shocks (didn't opt for the extra reservoirs on either), light racing UCA's, and Sway-A-way springs. I'm pretty pleased with how it has performed so far. My only complaint is that the adjustable collar on one of my front struts got cross-threaded, so I can't adjust it anymore. I don't know if maybe I didn't clean it out well enough when I tried to adjust it or what, but it's set at a good height right now at least.

Please awaken this thread!

How is it going T4R? I have been lurking around this forum for a while now. I have always loved toyotas and in 2010 I owned a toyota tacoma. Due to circumstances I had to sell the tacoma and was really disappointed. But I am happy to say that I am back. I am a proud owner of a Black 2012 Trail. I have been deployed and the wifey has picked it up for me. Did the whole deal online with the dealer which was outstanding and understood me being deployed. I will post pics as soon as I get back in the states. It will still be stock and not as cool as these trails I have seen but hopefully with some time and money, it will be done accordingly. Glad to be part of T4R.ORG!!

Welcome to the family. Congrats on your new rig, have a safe and happy Veterans Day and thanks for your service.

Now, get home safe, start modding your rig! And before the rant's start, you best be posting a pic or two!

Be safe.
