Potentially Purchasing an '09 SE Tomorrow. Need Advice!

My thought on the different roof rails, running boards, wind deflector and badges from a USA Sport is that is just how they are in Canada. IIRC the 5th gen SR5's are different than USA models. Canada 5th gens don't have all the chrome trim the 2010-2012 SR5 had.

This one has a sr5 shift knob. probably normal for a CAN model. As someone mentioned, Good idea to check the VIN sticker on each door and the gate, assuming they did that in CAN.

One possible explanation for the missing 4WD badging is that all Canadian 4Runners may be 4WD. I can't imagine there's much of a 2WD market in a country where winter weather is guaranteed every year. With that said, different usually means more manufacturing cost so I'm not sure why Toyota wouldn't badge everything consistently.

Maybe this is just me or a personal preference, but for an ‘09, you can always tell who keeps their vehicles in great shape...and that just doesn’t look like one to me. The guys bring up a great point about all the little discrepancies, but not only that, there’s a rip in the seat and those wheels looked chipped as hell.

I personally don’t think the $14k price tag is worth that vehicle with 121k miles on it. I purchased an ‘08 earlier this year for $15k with only 80k miles. If the truck had rust and wasn’t in the excellent condition it was in when I purchased it, I could never see myself spending that kind of money on a 10 year old vehicle.

To each their own, but something about that truck just seems shady to me.

The wheels are pretty torn up, but I was thinking that was just from winter's. The frame is clean though because if the religious application of undercoating. The tires are Michalin, so they spent money on them at least. There is a little bit of staining under the oil cap, but nothing bad. Just what I would kind of expect with the miles.

I've been trying to talk to the service department at the original dealership.

I was talking to the Lexus side, and he did confirm it was sold there at their Toyota branch. Waiting on a call back from that service department.

I find it strange its in "H4". I would verify transfer face operation into H2 and L4 several times over as well as the locking differential.

4WD actuation works fine. Both going into and coming out of 4H and 4L as well as the center diff lock. The dealer in Canada called me back and verified everything for me. They were the last place it passed through before being brought to the US as well, and I am the first US owner. I think I mentioned it earlier, but all the panels have the matching number on them from the factory, so none have been replaced and when that dealer ran their check in October, there were no records of any issues associated with the VIN. I hope this thing does as well for me as they seem to for all of y'all and I really appreciate everyone's help with this!
