I've been lurking for awhile and have a few questions. I got a set of 17" FJ OEM rims that I'm looking to have powder coated. I've been looking through the threads and I'm trying to get a consensus of what guys are doing with the center caps. For those who have had these powder coated did you paint the center caps or pull off the aluminum piece and have that powder coated and then paint the plastic. Also I read something in the FJ forum where a guy said that he couldn't get his center caps on until he ground off some of the powder coating. I haven't seen anyone mention that here, but I'd like to tap into the advice of others so that I can avoid the same trouble.

Most people I've seen get em PCed on here have went with black and just rattle canned the center caps.
I had a set of gun metal sport edition wheels, for those I removed the aluminum and got it coated, then reinstalled on the plastic piece. My powdercoater said he thought the plastic was dense enough to handle the oven and melted one center cap which had to be replaced. So we pulled the aluminum off of the others.
Not really what you asked for, but maybe that helps a little.

My guy did not pc mine & just painted mine , pulled the toy badge out left it chrome , only chrome on my 4r !

Thanks for the feedback. I think that I'm leaning toward separating the aluminum from the plastic of the center cap and having that powder coated so that it matches. I would just rattle can the plastic since the visible part of that is minimal. Is there anything that I am missing?
