Power Antenna Issue on 1987

While inspecting the power antenna to get it ready for a new mast I found a broken plastic gear component. It the piece that sits inside the spool and sticks out the top of the metal cap and is held in place with a retaining clip. The top section that holds the retaining clip is where it is broken. Tried the Plastic repair epoxy, but that did not hold. I'm assuming too much tension from the spring.

These power antenna assemblies all look similar, if not the same. Anyone know if the individual parts are interchangeable or if the 2nd and 3rd gen assemblies fit the 1st gen?

Here's a photo of the broken gear piece in the Antenna Assembly. I took this after using epoxy to try to hold the broken top section in place, so this is what the complete piece looks like. You can see the gap at the top for the retaining clip. Just above the slit is the section that broke off.

Sometimes these inner parts stay the same even though the assembly itself is changed up a bit over time. Anyone know if this piece was still used in 2nd and 3rd gen assemblies, or assemblies from other vehicles?

I'm pretty sure they are different. Not much stayed the same between the generations.

Thanks for the info. I checked a local yard and they had three 3rd gens (98, 99 and 00). They are different enough that a direct bolt on won't work. The bracket would have to be modified and the diameter of the stem that the mast travels through is slightly bigger so the hole in the fender would need to be enlarged just a bit. The wiring seems to be the same, but the motors are different so that could be an issue. These mods are doable, but I'm not ready to give up on the original unit just yet.
