Power antenna repair, fail #1

Hmmmm. I'm trying to remember how I did mine. I have flares and know that I only needed to remove a few clip from inside the wheel well.

Ya, I have flares too. I knew I was going to trash the clips so luckily I had ordered some from toyota prior to replacing it.

I just went through this the other day with my fender liner. Those clips suck ass. The only way around them is going in from the engine bay and squeezing the clip tabs with needle nosed pliers while pushing towards the wheel well. I had limited success with the clips, but I can pretty much guarantee you won't get anywhere with them by trying to pull them out from the wheel well side. I wonder what the stealership mechanics use to pop those F'ers out....

They use a clip tool and hope for the best. I usually just replace the clips because it's hard to tell if they are going to hold the next time.

This site has the clips you need. It also has door panel clips and some of the other clips you need to keep these trucks squeak free. You can copy the part #'s to google and find a better deal sometimes.

Did your truck come from up north? They use an undercoating product up here that sounds like what you have to reduce noise and protect some from road salt.

Yeah, I dunno... I removed the screws from the fender flares, and the flare wasn't budging at all. I tugged pretty hard, but I didn't want to just rip it off, because I'm assuming they are costly to repair/replace if I break it.

Frustrating! I thought this was going to be a relatively quick easy job!

Nope, I'm the 3rd owner, and it's been in the Bay Area it's entire life. I can't figure out why only one wheel well would be sprayed with whatever that stuff is...

You don't need to take the flare off. Just a few of the clips that hold the wheel well guard on. Once those are removed, you should be able to peel back the inside just enough to get the motor out. However, I don't know if the stuff that is apparently sprayed on the inside is making that a challenge.
