Power door lock issues

I actually had this problem a year and a half ago. What it took to fix was resetting the key fobs. For whatever reason, that fixed it.

Now I can't get the door lock switches to unlock so I can't reset the key fobs to at least try that as a fix like I did a little while ago.

Count me in too. My daughter tells me they are going crazy locking /unlocking...Seems the fuse box is mention as the culprit often in threads.
 
Well I replaced the fuse block, $260. Locked the doors, 15 minutes later they were unlocked:ybrick:. That was a waste of money. Removed and detoxed door window/lock control switches, unlocked again. Next step taking off the door panel looking for a broken wire.

One thought I have, my daughter has a lot of junk on her key chain. I wonder if the ignition switch is shorting out?

Any other ideas? I need input.

Found the problem. The are 3 wires that run to the drivers side lock. When you unlock the door, once the driver side goes up, second time they all go up. Disconnected the lead off the lock set and the problem stopped. You now have to open the door and hit the unlock switch on the window/lock control panel. I can't find the replacement part on line and may not bother.

Opposite problem with 97 runner. Doors lock after leaving the vehicle.
with key in ignition, on seat... anywhere. Also while off or running.

I think this may be caused by the rear hatch harness shorting out! I have been having the same issues and it looks like this is where it is from!

my harness looks similar to the one in this thread and i will be replacing it tonight along with my MPX B fuse to see if my problems are fixed :D

I have the same issue on my 97 4-RUNNER as CRSON. Doors locking - Running or not - key in or out. Always locking and still clicking but never unlocks. Seemed to start happening after I power washed the exterior and engine compartment. I also related it to moisture and though it would dry out and fix itself, and it did for a few dry weeks, but problem returned after the next snowfall. Lasted for awhile, - dry weather - went away

Did your fix work?
 
I bought a used 2000 4runner SR5 last year and the door locks would operate every time I used the brake pedal. I looked under the dash and saw that the return spring for the break pedal was rubbing against a bundle of wires. One of the outer most wires in the bundle had an exposed area of wire where the spring wore off the sheath. That wire must have been to the door locks. I put some electrical tape around the exposed wire and used a zip tie to keep the wire bundle from rubbing against the spring. It fixed the problem. Maybe you have the same thing happening with your 4runner.

Look under the dash and you'll see the return spring for the brake pedal and a bundle of wires that sits very close or maybe rubbing against that spring. Pull the spring back and see if any of the wires have the core of the wire showing.
 
Ok, the problem is possibly your fuse block. The fuse block located inside the truck needs to be replaced. This is how I fixed mine. After time, the inside of the fuse block kind of disintegrates, it has a built in circuit board that goes bad.

I replaced mine this past summer and it has worked great ever since.

The bad part is, the fuse block is expensive. Dealers are around $600.
This does NOT include installation. It is actually easy to replace. I did it in about 45 minutes.

I got mine from EB Toyoya Parts. I saved about $200 buying it there. It is OEM.

I am NOT sure this is your problem but it certainly fixed mine.

My door locks are acting up again due to the warm weather and I see where the fuse block (under dash at driver's left leg) is the culprit.

Anyone have the OEM part number for the fuse block. (I have a 2000 T4R 4WD LTD)
 
I had my locks start acting up a few weeks ago when I had the driver's side window down a little bit while it was misting out. Guess it was enough to get water in the switches in the driver's side door.

The next day I had random locking issues, security system turning on when not moving. super wierd.

After this we had a few 80+ degree days and the issue has cleared up!!

If others are having this issue, give it some time to dry out and hopefully it will clear itself up saving you lots of money over replacing the body control module or door lock actuators.

Just my experience.

I had the same issue. I went through numerous "fixes" including replacing the fuse panel where the door lock relay was located. I thought it would surely fix the problem. Nope. Then, on a hunch, I replaced the door lock actuator on the driver's side. I bought it on Amazon for like $80 and it happened to be the same brand as the OEM. I think it was "Aiken" or something like that. Wasn't very hard to do but once done, my door locks work everytime!
