Power Steering/Brake issue.

For some reason, on my '92 runner(SR5 with the 3.0), the power steering cuts out when the brakes are applied. Ive got zero experience working on cars, so trying to figure this out hasnt really gone that well. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. In the mean time, Ill have to ask around, and see if anyone I know has ran into this.

The first thing to do would be to check the level of the fluid in the PS reservoir.
If it's low, add some ATF.

Thanks for the reply. That was the first thing I checked when it started acting up. The reservoir is full. Any other suggestion?

The power steering pump is belt driven, while the power brakes work off of engine vacuum.
I can't think of any connection.

The REar wheel antilock uses ps fluid pressure to control the brakes. That's pretty much all it says in the chiltons book. The actuator appears to be under the battery, where my 94 is leaking ps fluid from a chunk of metal and a gaggle of hydrolic lines.

Your right, I forgot about that.
A big problem with the ABS might affect the brakes.
The actuator is under the battery, and a couple of lines with banjo bolts connect it to the PS.
