Pre-amp output wiring

I am thinking about using shielded CAT-6 cable with high quality, soldered RCA's to run from HU to the amps. Anyone have experience with this method?

twisted pairs plus shielding should keep everything really quiet and 24 GA should be fine for 4v outputs.

I've never tried this but it sounds great on paper. I would go with solid core CAT6 vs. the stranded kind. I think it'll give you less resistance over DC.

The CAT 6 would be nice and neat and all pairs contained in one covered wire. The shielding is much better than I would want to pay for in a audio specific cable.

Really, my main motivation is the neatest job while maintaining signal quality. I think that this is going to end up being a high quality, low cost and efficient solution to getting signal from pre-amp to amp.

So here's how they came out.



I really like how neat this is and how little room this takes up in the dash and wire runs. I ran one cable to go all the way to the back so when I get a cam I just need to connect. The RCA's were about 5.00 per pair from Amazon but worth it to have something solid to work with. Don't waste your time with Radio Shack plugs; they really are garbage. the CAT 6 cable was a "hospital grade" LAN cable originally. Very well made and very well shielded.

Looks nice, I like how it's all 1 wire. I used these which is a very similar design
