Pre lift experience Hi tech Auto Chantilly

So, This place in Chantilly VA I thought was a go to place for 4runner and Jeep lifts. So i noticed that Bobby and Scott have left and maybe the place is not the same.

I called them yesterday and "the guy" was not there and was told to call back today to which I did and he was not there so I asked the guy for a price to install 4 5100"s and a rear spacer of which I already have, he then proceeded to tell me I need to bring it in to give me a price, I told him that it is a 5th gen and should be a simple thing for them and I want to get a price over the phone, he agreed and ask for a number to call me back on to which I agreed. He called me back and gave me a price of $2700 +$200 for a "lifted alignment" whatever that is. I told him that is way too much, He then asked if i had the parts, I said yes, he said then knock $500 off the $2700. I asked him again why so much, he said we do the control arms too, I told him they are not needed, he disagreed and said, well thats what we did with our last 4runner we did, I then told him about another place close that quoted me like $585 ( I have seen this 580 ish special at hi tech before btw) for everything and then he told me , well, we fix their mistakes all the time we are the best.

So based on my conversation I can assume that this place was probably a decent place before and now since some key players have left it is not the same? Does anybody else have any recent feed back on them?

The entire install should take less than 4 hours. In a professional shop with a lift and spring compressor, I could do it in about 2 hours total. An alignment should be about $100. So the total install and alignment should cost about $500. Swapping control arms during the install would add maybe 30 minutes per side. They're very easy to install.

I would say better, way nicer lobby and all the knowledge from Scott. Tell Scott I'll see him at the Cove! Also ask him how much a body mount chop is for me.

Damn man sorry to hear you had a crappy experience, they are a little high on the install prices. I think they quoted me $500 to install 5100's just on the front of my wife's Tundra with me providing the parts, I said to hell with that and installed them myself and took it there for the alignment.

$2700 is ludicrous though, I think with control arms there might be $1000 in parts, so $1700 for labor, crazy. Depending on how high you set the 5100's you might want to think about control arms to keep your caster in spec. I have my 6112's set to 1.85" and I'm close.

I think the last two alignments I had done there were $150 for the lifted alignment. I think they are going through a change because the day after having the alignment done on the Tundra the owner texted me and was asking about my experience. I thought that was decent of him to do.

Yeah, they are out of their mind! I am surprised by that, I thought ONLY after 3 inches you need to consider control arms and anything under that is fine? I am just going 1.75 max and don't really want to change control arms if at all possible. Who knew this truck would be such a PITA to level/Lift a little bit.

No problem, hope you get it all worked out. You should be fine with the 1.75" then. Mine is still in spec but maxed out on adjustment, so I will eventually get UCA's.

I must have gotten the same dude when I called a couple weeks ago. He said the same thing... bring in the parts and he'll give me a quote.

I've noticed more complaints and more advertisements with flyers and promos. It's definitely not the same when Bobby was there.

I used them previously to mount my tires and do alignments on my JKU. They were always high in terms of labor, but I would trust them to do the work right.

Like I told you previously, we can do the lift together. I'll probably be buying my suspension after we meet up Friday. If you want we can do mine first and get all of the kinks worked out

Scott at GTPeace did my lift a couple of months ago. Definitely recommend.

I'm glad I came across this post. I needed to start looking for a shop to mount and balance my ko2's. Hopefully 5100's to follow soon!

Just had my lift alignment done at High Tech last Tuesday. Now I'm second guessing the work because of what I'm reading. I do feel I was charged accordingly. About $150.00 (1.75 lift). I'll post the print out of the results tomorrow so you folks can chime in. It feels like it's aligned ok and I think caster is good. I know they got the 285 tires away from the mud flaps where only heating was required to stop any rubbing at full lock. I assumed it was the place to go since it was mentioned in here that there were a few guys working there that knew all about 4Runner lifts. I didn't personally ask for anyone by name when I scheduled my appointment because I had forgotten the names.
