Preparing for supercharer install

Looking for info and suggestions from people who have a supercharger or are more knowledgeable than myself on the topic. I just purchased a used 2nd gen supercharger and should be receiving it by the end of the week. The previous owner had it on a Tacoma first then had it on a tundra. He claims it comes with everything needed to install but from my understanding there is a few different throttle position brackets and sounds like the one which is specific for a 2000 auto 4runner wont come with my supercharger sense it was on a Tacoma and tundra. Correct?

Also the head of the bolt for the dynamic tensonier bracket was severely stripped and is not exactly functional. I'm thinking about cutting a head of another bolt and welding it to the tensioner bolt. Yay or nay?

The supercharger comes with the 2.2 pulley on it but also included is the stock size pulley. I live in Denver so I'm wondering if i'll be ok running the 2.2 pulley without additional fuel mods like the 7th injector? I will run the colder ik22 spark plugs though. With this be ok? I may eventually buy the 7th injector but it could easily be put on hold for several months.

I plan on buying the trd throttle body gasket and an extra belt.

Can any experts review my pictures I have and let me know if anything seems to be missing?

Welding a bolt head to the other bolt will be fine. Also do you have an electronic throttle body? I cannot see any pictures.

One of our shop rigs is running a 1st gen SC with a 2.2 pulley and no fuel mods and no pinging. I would go ahead and run the 2.2 and you can always swap to the stock pulley if you notice it pinging.

IIRC, the bracket was the same for the throttle cables but it had a few different positions where it could be mounted depending on which vehicle you had.

I would do new plug wires along with the IK22's and doing valve cover gaskets wouldn't be a bad idea if they are starting to weep a little. You basically have to pull the intake manifolds (or SC) to do them so you will already have half the work done.

Pick up a spare SC belt to keep in your truck as not many places will carry it other than the dealer and even then, it can be hit or miss. Replace the rest of the drive belts too since you have to pull them off anyway.

Feel free to call us if you have any questions

The only thing I don't see is the iac check valve. Those are only a few bucks though if you don't have it. Also you are probably going to need some vacuum line if you don't have any, and possibly a vacuum line splitter if you are 4WD and depending on the year of your truck. Also there were three different throttle brackets, as long as the one on the supercharger has two different spots for cables you should be good. It would be bad if the bracket only had one spot and you end up having two cables, but that depends on what year your truck is or if it's manual or automatic transmission.

Edit: just read you have an automatic 2000 so yeah you have two cables that need to attach. How many cables spots are on the bracket that's on the supercharger?

Thanks for your help Dylan.

I just recently did new plug wires, valve cover gaskets, and the drive belts are fairly new too. So IK22's, couple supercharger belts, and tb gasket and I should be good to go then.

The throttle bracket has two spots for cables so thats a relief.

What is the iac check valve that ill need (specifically) do you know?

And how much vacuum line will I need and what size? whats the splitter for?

Here is a link for the check valve.

TRD Replacement Check Valve - One Way (3.4 V6 S/C) PTR26-35042

And a diagram for it. It goes into a vacuum line that goes into the iac on the throttle body. Its on the top right of the diagram in RED.

As for vacuum line, I can't remember off the top of my head but you are going to need different sizes and lengths. I'll see I can get some measurements tomorrow if what's needed.

The one in the picture is an OEM metal throttle body gasket, using that will insure boost leakage, also get the intake manifolds gasket as well. A rule of thumb with that is that you don't know where it's been how it's been used so you might as well replace them. The last thing you want is a leak haha. I'm going with new hoses too when I go to do mine.

Thanks that would be helpful.

Here is a part number for the gasket. 17176-62040

And now that I saw this I realized I never got you the measurements for the vacuum line like I said I would. I'm sorry, were you still needing that?

The supercharger thread has the size and length of the vacuum hose needed. So if that info is correct I'll just use those specs. Thanks for the part number for the gasket.

On every Toyota parts website I searched I found listings for intake manifold gasket and plenum gasket. Both were $8 and some change... Most of the websites I couldn't find any part numbers for reference. I ordered the "intake manifold" gasket before you gave me that part number. I hope the one I ordered is what I need.

I'm pretty sure they are the same thing, just the parts diagrams are naming the spot of the gasket differently. The plenum is in two pieces and has a gasket between the two pieces (plenum gasket) and then another gasket under those (intake manifold). And Those two gaskets are the same so I'm sure you're fine.

not to highjack...

just curious-- that's all.. How many miles are on your motor? I've got 210,000 and was wondering when the motor might be too old for such a thing?

170,000 miles. Most people say it doesn't matter how many miles you have as long as you do a compression test and your motor proves its still running strong than it shouldn't really matter how many miles you have... to some extent.
