Does anyone know what kind of pressure (operating and maximum) that the transmission lines see to and from the radiator transmission cooler? I searched and couldn't find any reference.
The reason I ask is I want to substitute "fuel hose" in place of transmission hose for my B&M cooler install. Before you say don't use fuel hose, please consider this:
The fuel hose is $1.60/ft and rated to 50 psi whereas transmission hose is $4.50/ft and rated to 250 psi. The cost adds up quickly if I am going to purchase ~8' or more of hose...
I looked at the supplier specs, and the rubber is the same, it's the reinforcement that is different. Apparently, they use the same rubber, the difference is the reinforcing yarn and thus the pressure rating.
Could I get away with 50psi hose for the trans cooler? Or Should I spend 3-4x as much for the higher rating?
