Previous Owner Horror Stories - Let's Hear 'em

When making the purchase on my rig all these years ago I wasn't aware of the story it had in store for me from the past year. After making the purchase and driving it home I was checking out the interior and such pulled the back seats up and notice a bunch of powder sprinkled all over the under side of the seat in the back ... Apparently the detail guys didn't get this clean so I had to go back to the dealer to pick up some paper work and I advise them that there was a bunch of powder stuff under the seat was wondering why. Thinking to myself did the detailer really detail everything before receiving the managed assured me, so I go to show him what I was talking about and he just melted like butter and confessed because this obvious was a miss. So I end up learning that this vehicle was repossessed from a drug dealer who got it seized by law enforcement for having possession of cocaine in the back and this was from that. In order to get the vehicle back he had to take possession of it from the police impound yard etc etc. Yea I about had a heart attack and all of this happened 30 days before me purchasing it... Needless to say the carpet was removed cleaned very well after that..

Bought my '85 in a snow storm, dude told me it had a professional restoration 8 years prior and I was hot to get a 1st gen so I bought it. Spring came around and there were rust bubbles everywhere, frame was turning orange under the spray paint job, and there was a musty smell inside. I pulled up the carpet on the driver's side and the floorboard was rusted out, but their fix for this was a piece of house heat duct sheet metal spray foamed to the rusty metal and covered with tin foil. I drove it for a year and sold it to a guy at a discounted price with full disclosure. I still see him driving it around town 8 years later.

Working in a body shop, we see some serious hack jobs weekly. It's scary and dangerous what people will do to a car to make a buck.
