Prinsu roof rack...any issues or regrets?

Install on the 3/4 would be a lot easier, but I like the looks and versatility of a full rack.

Full rack, drilling 2 holes takes maybe 10 extra minutes. But it depends how much you need your rack for. I put my RTT and some cases on top with my full rack, but a 3/4 wouldnt be able to do it.

I went with a full rack and really do like it. The only regret I have is that originally I was missing the front mounting hardware. I needed to use the rack and could not wait for new hardware so I just installed the back and middle mounting. Unfortunately the wind deflector wore a mark in the paint that I had to later fix when I finally get the front mounting hardware.

Does the frontrunner accessories work on the prinsu rack. I like both of these full aluminum racks but prinsu just looks a little better. But i like all the frontrunner acessories thats available. Thank you in advance.

I have the front runner jerry can mount from front runner. I wasn't able to use the mounting hardware it came with but was able to get everything i needed from home depot to make it work.

Anyone have any issues with any rust from hardware on their prinsu?

Couldn't find any info on that anywhere. I usually only use stainless hardware, but don't really want to go buy all new stainless hardware as the prinsu stuff is 8.8 also, but also don't want any rust up there....

I had one on my Gen4 and I liked it a lot.
They use stainless and aluminum Hardware. .
I'm not sure if I'm buying one for my Gen5 yet , the reason is didn't get the usage I thought I would and it affected my sunroof veiw. But if I did I wouldn't get a full length.

The rack has been awesome. I kinda wish I went with frontrunner because it's a little more modular, but you can't beat prinsu for the price and design.

I am thinking of getting one for my 4th gen - I don't have a light yet, but would I get too much wind noise if I get the fairing with the LED light cutouts?

Any thoughts on if 30/40" leaves me more options?

Prinsu Rack

So I just mounted a 7/8 rack on my ORP the other day and followed the online instructions but I am still a little worried about the mounting holes being totally sealed up. The instructions showed putting quite a bit of RTV around the mounting holes and then dropping the spacer on top. Should I also put some in the hole so there is no chance water will get inside?

I custom cut OEM weather stripping to fit around the holes in the drip channel that was left empty after I removed the factory rack. It was alot of work but makes the install look really clean. Just want to make sure no water gets inside. Great way to ruin a headliner on a new vehicle.

you can try to clean it up with a plastic spatula before it dries. I put a ton of silicon around mine as the instructions state and no problems in the last 2 years or so with leakage.

Can anybody with a full-length Prinsu give me an exact measurement of the rack height at the highest front point and highest rear point? want to ensure the truck and rack will still fit in my garage! Thanks in advance!!

My concern with a Prinsu is the drilling. Not so much the drilling now, but what if you decide to go with a different rack because it doesn’t hold up or your needs change. Then you have two holes unique to prinsu before you put two more hole for (insert rack here).

That’s why I’m leaning toward either SSO or a 3/4 Rhino or FR

You don't have to drill with the full rack. There are options to use a "leg" so to speak rather than drilling a hole.

If I could do it over again, I'd go SSO. The hardware provided was not as described and I've had a hell of time getting the rack flat. Add in the non-drilling factor, and it's even more of a pain. It's a nice rack and I'm happy overall, but if I had known I was going to go through all this trouble shooting and jerry rigging, I would have just bought the SSO rack. Would have saved me some time and piece of mind.

I have a 7/8 rack and I had some of the same troubles. Had to use some washers to get it to sit the way I wanted. Still like the rack though, its very slim and low profile!

Yep, that is why I went with the Prinsu 7/8 option. No drilling required and it isn't that much shorter than a full rack. I got the great looks of the Prinsu that way without any permanent mods to my vehicle.
