Privacy glass

Hi,

Been driving around my 98 4runner for about three months now. I understand my truck has factory privacy glass on back windows. A tent guy told me the factory glass is smoked as it not removable. He also said it offered little or no UV protection compared to tent. Anyway, I think my truck would look better with tint on the front driver and passenger windows. What tint darkness should I get to match the factory windows?

Here is a picture of the truck (since you guys like pics) the day I brought it home. Looks the same plus Yakima Loadwarrior w/ extension and minus the running boards.

Ive been debating the same thing, I found the precut tints on ebay for 10-20$ for the set .

Was wondering if anyone has installed any of the precut setups before.

Cause I just cant seem to justify spending the money on a profesional job.

Ive done tints on my 94 toyota pickup and they came out kinda crappy. I had the roll from walmart but had trouble triming it.

I paid $65 and had them match it to what was already there. They usually know what percent tint is stock, and match that pretty well. I've tried to tint myslef before, and its just one of those things I will always pay for from now on.

Just drive around town really fast running red lights. When you get pulled over ask the officer if he could put his tint meter on the rear glass. Problem solved!

:lmao:

I've gotten the front windows tinted on every SUV I've owned for the last 15 years. Always get them done to match the factory rear tint. $70 ish well spent IMO.

lol, this happened to me on my 2000 Camaro. Had 15% all around and cop asked about it when I was pulled over for speeding. I acted like I did not know it was illegal tint. He took out his tint meter and showed me it was illegal. He let me off with a warning for both offenses, Lucky!

So it sounds like 20% tint and a $50-70 job. Thanks for the info guys.
