Problem with drive shaft

I did reply with one idea but then realized my suggestion wasn't going to work. I'm guessing that broken part of the driveshaft should just slide off the output shaft. If tapping on it with a mallet doesn't loosen it up, I'm wondering if you could somehow get a purchase on it with some kind of slide hammer puller and get it off.

No there is not a bolt/nut holding it into place. I am at a loss, because it should just pull out

You're right. I was originally thinking it could be bolted on but it definitely should just slide off.

Yeah I have no idea either it should just come right out. when i try to pull it out it sounds likes its locked on something. its not frozen because when its in neutral it will turn. As previously stated am I as well missing something

I would just tap on it from all sides with a mallet or hammer to see if you can loosen it's purchase on the splines of the output shaft. If that doesn't work, maybe you could use a chisel and a hammer and try to tap it out towards the rear of the vehicle. I wouldn't use a ton of force. It's just really locked onto the splines enough to prevent you from removing it with just arm strength.

Those pics are clearly of the broken axle-end. Do you have pics of the transmission end? It should slide out, and you may just have to pull harder, but the 4wd's have a square flange on that end, and it does need to be unbolted to be removed.
I believe that is the transmission side of it, not the axle. You can see the linkage. My vote goes to getting a snatch strap and wrapping it around the output and tying the other end to the seat post of a mountain bike. Give yourself about 14 feet of slack and pedal as hard as you can. Should yank that sucker right out like a front tooth out of a 7 year old.
Kidding aside, I wonder if the break did something internally that is binding. In theory it should just slide out.

Had you been servicing it? There are a bunch of zerk fittings that need feeding.

Was it a violent jerk when it broke? Any noise before hand?
That's a strange failure. I'm wondering if the bearing on output shaft on the transmission seized up, and maybe that has the yoke in a bind somehow?

Really wasnt a jerk as much up a BANG !!!!!!! No noise before hand driving and then all of a sudden could not acclerate

what do you mean move the shifter to P or R ?

I understood that to mean did you shift into Park or Reverse why you were driving which caused the driveshaft to break. I'm guessing you didn't do that because that would be pretty catastrophic.
