Problem with new 4runner

Hello,

I purchased a 2005 T4R on Saturday. v-6, 4x4, Love the truck. It runs perfect, but there is one problem. The belt was squeaky. When i test drove it the first time it was at night, the belt didn't squeak. When i picked it up it was around noon, had a medium constant squeak. But, the next morning, very loud like the belt needed replacing, replaced it that day and it solved the problem. Monday and Tuesday morning, no squeaks at all. This morning I jumped in it and it has a light, not constant squeak, about every 1/2 second. It stopped once I got to the end of the road so it wasn't a huge deal, but I would like to fix it now.

The previous owner used the truck as a second car, so it really was used very inconsistently, which is why i figured it just needed a new belt from sitting.

There are so many pulleys on the belts path that it is very hard to figure out which one it is that is squeaking. Maybe it just needs some type of spray now that I have a new belt. I don't know. Can someone chime in??

Be careful doing so, but using a stethoscope to check the pully's will help. It is also possible that it is some belt slippage from a weak tensioner spring. You could put a wrench on the tensioner and see what the spring pressure is like. It should be fairly stiff.
