problem with tires

hi, guys, just recently bought a 2000 stock sr5, manual transmission. It had pretty new tires on it when i got it a few months ago, the Firestone Destination a/t, which had no uneven wear when i bought it. I have put about 3000 miles on it and noticed that the tires are wearing unevenly, only the front. the insides of each tire are wearing faster than the outside. i had an alignment done, but it seems like the wear is getting worse. is there anything else that could cause this problem? or maybe it is just staying the same but i am keyed in on it now. thanks a lot.

It is possible that the tire threw a balancing weight or a belt...have you had the tires balanced since this problem started? Do you notice any vibrations?

i haven't noticed any vibrations. it has always stopped straight, no veering, even before the alignment.... unless the mechanic didn't really align it or didn't get it quite right....

Well, only if the alignment was really bad would there be vibes.

The first corrective action I would take would be the cheapest one....get the tires rotated and balanced.

BTW, how do you rotate the tires (what pattern)?

Can't you rotate from passenger to driver side too?

Yeah, I use a rotation pattern that is a bit more complicated than front to back, back to front. I used to use that method, but found that I got a bit of cupping.

With only a 4 tire rotation, I usually bring the back tires to the front, then bring the front tires to the back and cross them.

It gets a bit more complicated when you add a 5th tire into the rotation...
