Programming instructions for blank Transponder keys/chip keys for OEM toyota ignition

Any of them offered with factory security should have the transponder key. 99-02 Limited for sure. Couldn't tell you about 96-98.

Hm, I never new any 3rd gens had chipped keys. Must be '01/02 Limiteds.
So, [MENTION=102606]infamousRNR[/MENTION], the metal key in your picture can't be used to start your rig? What's the point in having a key that won't start it? I guess that would be the ideal situation for a Hide-A-Key. Does anyone do that anymore??(in the generation we live in, I feel like I need to say "don't post online if you happen to be someone who DOES have a Hide-A-Key" [emoji23]*)

That is correct, without the “chip” in the key the engine attempts to turn over but never does..

This was a spare key I had made for a backup to unlock the doors.

Nope, mine had the base cassette player, no cd, red light where the RR locker button goes to the left of the steering wheel.

Does anyone have a link for the chip key online? My 99 limited key has no markings on it other than the Toyota emblem and I have no idea if I need a “dot” key or a “g” key. Any help is greatly appreciated

I found mine for ~$20 each on ebay... but be careful of the $10 keys, they're a much lower class/quality. Cheapies are a hard plastic, very light weight and feel cheap. Oem is a dense, rubbery feeling with some weight to it.

Other names/nomenclature: TOY43AT4 692062 needs to be the 4c chip version.

'02 LTD here. OK well thanks to this thread I was able to identify that I have one master and one sub key! 4Runner starting and running perfectly then winter hit. Let it sit for a few weeks then the battery submitted to winter. Just now got around to replacing battery and turns over just fine, but will not start. Insert Master key, security light goes out. Remove it, security light begins to flash again. So, could this be my problem? It makes sense if it is, just how did it get to this point is confusing for me. Oh, and have tried reprogramming 20 times with both master and sub to no avail; I cannot get to the first "auto" sequence to save my life.
