I have had My 1984 Toyota 4Runner SR5 for about 4 years now i believe. It has been a long journey for my self and the 4runner. Here is a little bit of the story.
In the winter of 2004/2005 I purchesed the 4Runner from a customer of the auto repair shop I was working for. Cost was $650.00 It had an over heating problem and did not run. The customer had no money to get it fixed. Later that week I bought a used motor from a 2wd toyota pickup from a local area wrecking yard for $600.00. In a week I had it in and running. Total cost $1250.00
Right away i began cleaning and customizing, like painting the white removal top black( sometimes i wonder if i want it white again??)
One year later while late to work I down shiffted causing the RPM to go through the roof, that was the end of that motor. I bought a Remanufactured form a machine shop in town. installed in two weeks, back on the road.
less than a year later the head gasket went out, so i just replaced it and went on my way.
about a year or so after that the head gasket blow again..... I took the head to a more repeatable machine shop in town(not the one i bought it from) and they said how in the world did that motor ever run. So I bought a re manufactured head and off i went .
Well now two weeks ago my rear end began to knock and this is where i sit and the 4runner sits as well.
So its time for project 84runner
Pictures of the present and the build will be added
