so when you do the HID conversion its different headlights correct, or does the conversion take place inside the stock 4runner headlights?

You car correct. The bulbs are totally different. You've also got a ballast that amplifies the vehicle's voltage so that the gasinside the xenon bulb will light up to a certain colour

Well, we're talking about HID's and i want to show you wath they look like. (i took the picture with my camera on my cell phone so that's why it looks so crappy)

Oh i c...???? Just feel like it. No one in my city is big on 4Runners, so when i found this, i was SUPER excited!!

does anybody have pics of projectors in a 3rd gen? and i like having my daytime running lights, when you have HID's in, do you have to sacrifice having the DRL's? or can you have both HID's and DRL's at the same time? will having DRL's with HID's burn out the HID's faster and not be worth having the DRL's with the HID's? i would really like to have some pics of projectors on a 3rd gen. so if you have them, can you please post. thanks.

as for the lights getting brighter, i think its because the bulb charges. im not quite sure about that though, but i do agree that it looks really cool, especially in a parking garage. and another question for this forum, has anyone attempted the adaptable bi-xenon headlights. i think those are super cool, but dont know how those would be with a 3rd gen 4runner.

The flash you're talking about is the like a spark plug. It takes approx. 20,000 Volts for a spark to jump the spark plug gap, and maybe only 8000-10000 to keep sparking. So for the HID's it takes "X" about of energy for the light to turn on. After it's turned on, it takes less energy to make it stay on. What you will notice is that after the HID's are turned on, they get brighter adn brighter for about 2 minutes. THis is jsut so that gas inside the bulb has time to wark up. in my HID kit, when i first turnthemon, the lights are really white adn after they warm up, they turn slightly blue. You can actually notice the colour change if you're against a wall

You are correct.. it takes about 40,000 volts to fire the Xenon gas, but only 12 volts to sustain the light.

does it just look bad without a lens to focus the light??? it seems to me like the light would be unfocused and really scattered...

also,

do you ahve to get the bi-xenon kit?? this allows lo-mean and ligh-mean hids....

you dont have to get the bi xenon but you can if you want. Correct me if im wrong but the bi xenons are the ones that tilt and have that mechanical piece in them that moves the beam higher. And it also has alot higher chance of malfunctioning. Honestly you wont really need your high beams.

i thought the bi-xenon meant that it had both the low and high beams.

I looked on that xenon Depot page and the conversion kit is like $800??? also it just looks like it sticks in where the factory light went, is this so? Also I have holes in my glass lenses from rocks do you guys have a line on plastic lenses or do you use that dumb plastic stuff that you stick on? I say dumb because they always get dirty and look like crap also not to mention they melt.
