Projectors Retrofit Project (doubts)

Hi, everyone!

Finally I am in the process to change the 99 headlights on my 1998 4runner to the Projectors Retrofit but i have some doubts;

Right now I have the following:

It would be easier if you list all the items out with links, but it looks all good. I would maybe recommend buying better bulbs, and that butyl or whatever rubber to reseal the headlights. Some people recommend an aftermarket wiring harness as well, but every one has their own opinion. You can maybe check retrofitsource for pictures as to what is included in their kits.

You won't have a projector project without projectors since there isn't on in the second list. And the lights won't light without ballasts, and there are none in the second list. Look here for ideas.

don't go cheap with these items you will be disappointed with your projectors. i work with retrofitsource. I have this in my own truck and love it. its plugnplay

Thanks I appreciate your help, but since at the the Retrofitsource.com the cost including the shipping to my country are near the $400.00 and I already have the parts showed on the above pictures, I prefer to buy the rest of the parts to complete the project but my doubts are if the three parts mentioned on the second part of my fist post are the necessary. monkracing29, I only need one Motocrontrol Bi-Xenon H4/9003 for the project or need two? As per the product PDF Diagram on the theretrofitsource.com, with one Motocontrol I can install both projectors but I have doubts. Could you let me know? Thanks, again.

You only need one motocontrol harness. I strongly encourage you to rethink the cheap amazon ballasts. Your going to be pumping juice straight off the battery to the 55 watt ballasts. If those have a melt down, which lets be honest, Chinese mass production quality, it's more likely to happen than I would want to chance.

You don't need the weird pair of plug adapters if you're going to use the motocontrol harness. If you want inexpensive quality ballasts I can help you track some stuff down.

Even if you go cheap on the ballasts get 35w not 55w. The lifespan of 55w will be shorter and you don't get any serious benefit.

Ok, I finally purchased the following parts to complete my project, I hope all the parts be perfectly fitted without any problem. As soon as the project will finished I will to post some pictures. Thanks to everyone.

1) 2 Morimoto XB35 D series D2S 5500k bulbs


2) 2 Morimoto Amp to D2S ballast adapters connect to any HID Ballast

3) 1 Morimoto MotoControl BiXenon H4/9003

I installed rubber O-rings between the DS2 connectors and the bulbs to help keep moisture out. Pick up a 10-pack at OSH in the plumbing department for $3, IIRC they were about 5/8 dia and fit snugly, requiring a bit of force to get the connector on the bulb. A bit of dielectric grease on the o-ring and around the connection goes a long way too.
