Proper Rigid LED Lights..

Hello all,
This Summer I am looking to replace my Round PIAAS with a LED light from Rigid. Simply put who's using them? Do you like them? perform well? I saw another truck with a similar front bumper and a Rigid "Knockoff". I really like the look- better than the big round eye look I have now...

I know they are very expensive, this is one reason I thought I might ask first before putting the PIAAS up for sale. There is a local shop that sells them but their demonstration JIG is never working. I saw a pretty nice unit on the rigid site that featured a orange with a white beam..

I already have 2 Crystal Ions in the lower corner already.

I will say that the Rigids I've seen have waaayyy better optics and are built much better than any chinese led bar I've seen, but 1000$ is more than I'd ever pay for any kind of light, and I greatly prefer the light temperature and output of HID lamps, the blue tint of LEDs just doesn't do it for me, amber covers do mask the problem well though.

I have a SR-10 Combo on my truck. It blasts my buddies 20 in Lifetime out of the water. But you pay for it. Personally I love mine, and I'm glad I spent the money. I run a lot of county roads to get to work in the morning, and I'm always driving in the dark. Nothin like seeing a mile ahead of you running 70 on a 30mph road. Hehehe.

I know.....

I mean once it REALLY comes down to it.... would I really do that? when I'm at the dealer? I don't know.... I would assume stay with my Piaas then go Chinese aftermarket... but they are VERY good and you do get what you are paying for.. I might be just talking(or typing) out of my A$$ right now. But I have always said that when my 3G is Mechanically sound it might be time to dress her up. I have a buddy who would buy the "Bug eyes" I have not for just a shade less than half than what I paid for them.....

Dunno we will see.... I was just curious to see if others that have used them think they are that good and demand that kinda money.

If your going to blow that kind of cash go with Baja Designs. Rigids are bright dont get me wrong, but BD bars are just outta this world. The amount of light they throw takes me by surprise every time.

For me, its the upper end china bars. I'll be getting an Avec CR series for my 30" on my rack once its finished

I've got an Avec as well. Its stupid bright. I had condensation in the first one, and they did a replacement with no charge to me as it should be. The only issue was the down time. So far so good on the new one. Let's hope it stays that way. I paid $215 for a 37" single row from them.

Yea, until companies get with the times and start releasing light bars in the 4000k-4500k range, I can't see paying more than $250.

"Cool white" has such a low CRI rating.

Yea, if you're gonna spend a fortune go with some Baja Designs lights... if you look at the comparison photos Bajas wreck Rigid lights.

I run a 20" amber spot/flood combo by rigid, and I love the way it performs in dust, but it really isnt enough light.
Baja Designs for sure. You can always put the amber lenses over their bars and get better dust performance.

There's good quality light bars for little cheaper. You got slag factory led bar, miamiaoffroad led bars, which are not eBay brand and nice quality bars.

I was looking for LED driving lights that are DOT/SAE approved and at first I looked at Rigid. $650. Then I looked at KC which I saw advertised on RealTruck for $40 cheaper than Autoanything had them for. Autoanything had a 20% off sale and they price match with free shipping so I saved over $100.

I agree. I got my 41" led bar from miamioffroad, its XTREME LED SOLUTIONS, it was around $400 and I compared it to my friends $96 eBay 50" bar and there's just no comparison. His was cheap plastic looking bar. Had no Allen key bolts in front to hold the front face. And it shined like shit. He was trying to make fun of me , why would I pay that much for my light. Quality is why.

I'm sure rigid are very nice. But dude, $1000 for 20" led bar. Let's be serious. You can get a arb locker , a bumper with swingout. Almost front coilovers with reservor.

Rigids are ridiculously good and pricey. I am just running a pair of Dually spots and they are amazing. I got nearly a quarter mile of light on the road. The optics are purly amazing, if I could afford a SR 30 I would totally have one instead of the LifetimeLED 30" single row, however I do not have the money... When people look at lightbars all they seem to look at is the lumens, not the optics. Those ebay bars have a 30 degree spot, that is wider than the rigid flood. So yeah they are bright but half your light is going up in the air.

If you can buy a rigid bar, DO IT! You will no regret it, well your wallet might a bit, but your eyes will love you.


EDIT: But still look around, at Baja Design, Offroadlightbars... They have some of the proper optics as well. Not the stupid ebay ones.

I know there are ton of ebay haters here, but I frankly have had great luck with them... I am not your typical ebayer though, I am a mechanical engineer and I know what to look for in terms of optics and build quality. Contrary to popular belief there some good setups on ebay, but they are far and few between and usually are more pricy than the usual crap, but they are no where near the rigid level in terms of cost. I don't have any decent ones in my watching page right now, but when I do I will make sure to post them up here.

I have a look at some of the other suggestions. that write- up was pretty detailed too. I had no idea that there were so many different manufacturers out there. It would seem that Piaa is no longer in the game anymore... The local shop I normally deal with say they don't sell anywhere near the amount they used to and their display is a lot smaller too.

The last time there they had a Brush fire truck and a standard FD ford pick up with a plow and what I tallied up in my head was over $3K worth of lights on one truck... the brush truck I did not have a number one... it's tax payer money . I don't care about the FD's they don't get paid and do a great job. They deserve a shiny truck.

Are you wanting to go to an LED bar because you're tired of the "bug eye" look of your PIAA's...or is it your PIAA's don't put out enough light and you're wanting something brighter?

The reason I ask is....if you're wanting crazy bright light....and don't mind staying with 7" round lights...then go with ARB's new LED 21 Intensity lights. As with anything that has ARB's name on it...they're expensive (roughly $500 per-light) but also, if it has ARB's name on it....you know it's going to be of high quality, built to last, and do what it's suppose to!! You can go to Utube and see how frickin bright these lights are. Talk about turning night into day....Wow...these lights will do it !! They come in a flood light and a spot light.

Edit: Wow...I started looking around ARB's web site...they now have 32 Intensity LED. These bad boys are 9.5" round LED's. At the bottom of the page...they have a Utube video using two lights...just incredible how bright these are. Oh yeah...bigger means more money...around $750 per-light...ouch!!

I'm interested in hearing from you guys on this as well. I'm just looking for some smaller driving lights as my head lights are horrible.

I'm not sure what's legal though, heard so many different things.

I was looking at these LAMPHUS CRUIZER as they are super cheap and look solidly built.
