PS fluid instead of atf.

Accidentally did a "flush" on the power steering system with Prestone ps fluid instead of ATF. I saw afterward that the cap calls for atf fluid. I used about 3/4 if a qt. Should I be worried? It's a 2000 3.4 4x4 btw

No, you will be fine. I've used PS fluid for the life of my ride...still no leaks on all original equipment. I do a complete flush every 30k miles.:hatsoff:

I wouldn't worry necessarily, but I wouldn't leave it in there either. Maybe RS Dude has gotten lucky, but using PS fluid is a prime cause of leaks and shortened pump life. I'd flush it again with ATF.

Are you crazy? Offer some proof! :der:

Go read your FSM, then google "Toyota power steering fluid leak" and count how many of those are guys that filled their power steering reservoir with PS fluid instead of ATF.

Proof, indeed. :der: yourself.
