Puddle Problems...

Call around to some custom fab shops for 4runners, they could probably fabricate a custom bumper that resemble the front of a boat, like a v shape hull to help displace water over the sides of the truck versus over the top.

Last time I checked, posted speed limits are the maximum driving speeds in safe conditions. If there are puddles so big you're making a bow wave, that does not constitute safe driving conditions. The speed limit then becomes "as fast as conditions allow, up to the speed limit." Any time whatever you're doing on the road doesn't seem safe, or makes you uncomfortable, slow down.

your issue is with deep water driving . must be over 6 inches deep . driving too fast visibility loss is one problem what about loosing control ? I have seen vehicles in Miami driving thru these huge areas of deep water at speeds that are for me way too high. with all the road drainage issues in parts of florida I guess drivers just don't slow down.

up in my area you hit deep water on the side roads , this may take you into a big oak tree . that is what happened to my family member .

Get some JB Weld and affix one of these to the front bumper.

Only an idiot would drive too fast through standing water. How can you possibly take this seriously?

Antman - would that fit on my '15? I love to fish and could use my 4R sunroof to cast from...

No saltwater, like in Miami though....

Do you have a part number for a bracket?
 
I'm cry-laughing reading all that. Too funny... I have no hard feelings! It could possibly be a Florida problem. I don't know... I promise to post a video of what I'm taking about.

Looks like it's time for "Antman's T4R Spray Rail Mod" as seen here used on a boat.
Just bolt her on and presto chango, not more puddle spray in your windshield from driving thru deep water conditions.... which is common from Louisiana to Florida and beyond....
This re-directs the spray downward.

See example of one installed on the hull of a boat.

You should have 0 expectations of being able to do the speed limit in non-standard driving conditions. Treat pools of water the same you would ice, snow or rough terrain. Slow down.
 
https://vimeo.com/165335131 this is at 20mph... Yes, I understand that you have to slow down when it's raining. But no one drives 20mph when the speed limit is 40 or 45. Obviously this is a back road for purpose of the video, but on a normal road where you hit a puddle it blinds me for a few seconds. I was just wondering if this was normal for everyone.

Try that in Houston and you'll drown.

Just slow down when you see standing water, and avoid it when possible. That's the only answer any of us will have as there's no other way to "fix" your issue in a 4runner.

Ok I'm waiting for the new Antman 4Runner Aquacar! For a short term temporary solution (other than slowing down) I suggest installing new front tires with chines on the sides to direct water away and to the side. Many aircraft have nose tires that do just that.
 
Brother, that's a deep ass puddle. I would slide left or slow down below 20. Even if I didn't know how deep that was, and that puddle shat that much water on my hood my thought would be, oops, I should have been slower.
 
Obviously when you saw the water over the road from side to side, you know the road has a crown in the middle, so the side (shoulder) water level, given the photo showing the water was in the yard to the right....you should assume the water is at least 3-4 inches deep.

Really, what would you expect to happen? :confused:


oh, did you stop for the stop sign before you put your seatbelt on?
