Puff of smoke

I noticed that a puff of smoke came from the back side of my engine once it started to get warm. I was wondering what the problem could be. The truck was not overheating or anything. And it didn't really have a distinct smell of anything burning. Would anyone know what the problem could be.

Exhaust leak? Does it sound louder?

Really can't tell because I have an aftermarket exhaust. The valve cover bolts had black residue on them and tightened them down because they were lose and still have a little smoke coming from the back of the block.

What side of the engine? Could be oil dripping from the valve cover gasket and hitting the exhaust pipe?

take a picture. If it never comes back then its probably nothing. Puff of smoke is very vague.
