Pulled The Trigger

I placed a special order on a 2011 GX Premium, red/black with a couple options. ML/Nav, wide-view front/side monitor sys w/crawl control, PA (mandatory), tow hitch and roof rail cross bars. Hope I see it by November.

I can't believe a $60K+ vehicle does not come with the cross bars!

there was some issue with the DOT and the crossbars for some reason. Dont know exactly but they were not sold even for a few months. They are now available again. check them out from sewell.

Congrtas! Can't believe you are getting ride of your red Limited :(. My parents are about to pull the trigger on a 2010 RX350 fully loaded, which would replace the 2006 4Runner. What Lexus dealer did you buy from? We went with Lexus of Edison.

Hi Mark, long time!

I thought I would have my 4Runner for a long long time. The T4R served my Wife and I well and also saved my wife in a bad accident where the vehicle was totaled and she walked away fine. Unfortunately the new 4Runner only has a 5Klbs. tow rating. That is approx what I need to tow so I had to find another vehicle. The Land Cruiser is a little too big and thirsty and too much money. Also the T4R no longer has a V8 or auto leveling rear susp. I've been spoiled and really find they make a big difference when towing or carrying my bike (Motorcycle) on the back, with a roll-up hitch carrier. I can't believe how Toyota has configured the different 4R models. Only the Limited is equipped with locking center diff and only the Trail can get the KDSS as an option. Once I took the GX460 for a test ride I realized I didn't need to look any further. It will have a center diff, KDSS, Adaptive Variable Susp (AVS), auto leveling rear air susp and a wide-view monitor system (Front, side and rear Cameras). I was SO impressed with the ride of the GX I was kind of glad the T4R was not an option. The GX has to be one of the most quiet vehicles I've ever driven (Even quieter then my IS). The V8 is creamy smooth and powerful. It will also get better gas mileage then my T4R. I LOVE options and gadgets and the GX is loaded with an amazing assortment of features. This was the first time when special ordering a vehicle I had to limit myself with which options I would get. I only got several options, the ML/nav, parking assist (Required), wide-view monitor sys and the towing package.

If I was in the market for a crossover the RX would have been my choice. That 3.5L V6 is an amazing engine. The RX actually has more interior space then the GX due to the electric 3rd row seats (which I really don't need).

I special ordered a 2011 GX Premium from Prestige Lexus for $1500 over invoice. I had a deal with Tri-State ($1K over invoice) until they decided to add mandatory things (Like $200 etched glass) to the deal that I did not want. They also wanted an unconditional $5K non-refundable deposit. I will never go to Tri-State again and would not recommend them to anyone. They wasted a week of my time.

After I get my GX (Nov/Dec) we need to hook up with the old gang.

I am terribly sorry to hear about what happened. Vehicles can ALWAYS be replaced. At least your wife walked away!! Good luck with your new GX- I bet you are counting down the days. What are you riding around in now?

My parents are kind of sad to see the 2006 go, but my dad needed a more supportive seat for his back. Also, after 92K, they couldn't see spending over 2K for the 90,000 service and new tires. Got an amazing deal on the 2010 RX350, which we are picking up this Sa****ay.

I only have the IS for now. The GX should be here sometime in Nov/Dec. Luckily my wife only works a couple blocks from where we live. I still drive her to and from her work, but she walks home for lunch!

Update - Truck was made, it's on the boat ride here.

Looking forward to seeing a few pics of her and all the great stories to come. Maybe someday I'll be getting my wife a new GX, but the ol' 06 will do just fine for now.

Enjoy!

Congrats Koz! Let's see some pics. Some one around the corner has one. I'm liking the GX and I'll get over the rear door.

Picked it up last night, in the rain. As soon as the rain stops I will clean it and post some pics. Even though it was raining I started the mods (interior lighting and Husky floor mats). For now, all I can say is "This vehicle has an amazingly agile/smooth/quiet ride". I can honestly say I like the barn door now. It is much easier to operate (especially for the 5'3" Wife). You can link the memory setting (seat, steering wheel, side mirrors, heat and radio) to each FOB. So when I (6'1") use the vehicle right after my wife, as I approach the vehicle the vehicle senses my FOB and resets the memory to my setting. Also, as I approach the vehicle, it will turn on the interior and running board lights.

I’ll have pics and more info later.

That's great. It was one feature I found lacking in Lexus, when my friend's '03 Acura TL had it.

Finally here's a picture.
