PUZZLER - Clicking noise from the front passenger side

That could be it. Your ICON set up could be reaching the limit of travel for the ball joint leading to fast wear. My son has a long travel front set up and went through a couple of LR UCA ball joints pretty quickly. He has switched to uniball UCA's. I carry a spare just in case. They are relatively cheap and easy to replace.

The issue is finally identified and resolved.

It was the UCA Ball Joints afterall. Replaced both of them and the noise is gone. Thank you all for the help.

Clunks, clicks and rattles can annoy a person to the point of insanity.

My pristine 2002 had a rattle that developed around 80K miles that was coming from somewhere around the DS back door area. I checked EVERYTHING (luggage rack, fender trim, etc...) even took the back door completely apart thinking it might be a loose power window mechanism or window frame piece.

Never did figure it out and drove me phucking nuts. Traded it in on my 2015 and I am sure there is somebody out there who is right now saying "I love this T4R, but what is that damn rattle". ;-)

I had a similar rattle on my 06 4runner that was driving me insane. It sounded like it was coming from inside the cabin, right around the drivers side rear. I located the culprit accidentally while washing the truck. It turned out to be a loose bolt that allows the cross bars to slide on the roof.

As I said, I carry a spare. With your long travel set up it is very easy to tear a boot by contacting the spring on full droop and once the boot is compromised the ball joint won't last long.

Yeah, thats what I thought was the issue maybe with mine too but wasn't. The reason I took the back door apart was because the rattle would stop if you cracked the rear window down about an inch. I took the entire door apart, new window rubber, remounted the power motor, etc..

Put all back together, drove around the block, rattle still there. I was fit to be tied. I have to be honest, it was part of the reason I started looking at the 2015's. And the rest as they say, is history.

Don't get me wrong, the 2002 was a wonderful vehicle. Hell, the factory battery lasted 11 years. But for a perfectionist like me, an untraceable rattle can drive a person absolutely crazy.
