Quad-Xenon HID Retrofit Project

I always thought that high beam HIDs in dedicated high beam projector not really good idea. It can take up to 30-40 seconds for HID bulb to warm up and flashing them reducing lifespan of bulb dramatically. I know its really cool to have dual projector set-up but from practical view bi-xenons are much better. Looking forward to see some output pics, these Morimoto minis have raving reviews on HIDPlanet forum, they compact, cheap, easy to mount and have very good light pattern. Please post some pics when you done, its probably first T4R in a world with dual projector set-up :D

Both projectors are bi-xenons and I think the OP plans to run both at all times. So the warming up thing isn't an issue, I had the same thought before reading that both projectors were bi-xenon.
 
did u aim the ones in the high beam lower or atleast the same at the one in the lows? i wanna see all 4 in action, 2 is enough for me along with my fogs, light up the whole freeway.

I've yet to fire a set together in the housing. I'm hoping that all of them will line up evenly from the get go. If anything, that the high beam retrofit match the same and I can adjust the whole unit from there.
 
I don't think they will line up right, do a test run while u have these apart, more likely u might modify the ones in the highs, or u can mod the ones in the lows by usin washers on the bottom plate along with longer screws. Just do a test run, make sure the right side they are lined up together and same goes for the left side. This should save u trouble later on.
 
Updated my post.

R&P. I was messing around with the projector in the low beam location. I've been able to get the the cutoffs pretty much on top of each other (sorry no pics). Only thing I can get accomplished with the H1 is make sure the horizon is level or matched with the D2S projector. I'm currently messing with washers to get it right.
 
leave the projector in the high alone and work on the low beam side, im thinking that spacers on the bottom screws should level up the lights with the ones in the highs, theres not much u can do since the ones in the highs have no way of adjusting height. u might need to enlarge the screw holes on the plate a lil to get it right. take your time, and when the outcome is finish, then i am jealous that u have quad retro setup.
 
The high side projector isn't getting touched other than leveling the horizon. Can't really adjust much otherwise.

I'm taking my time with these, definitely don't want to screw up. I'm adjusting by using washers in the lower mounts. One light I had to put a bit in so now I have to source out some similar, but longer mounting screws. Otherwise all is going great!
 
Very nice work and writeup. Good job on your step alignmnt. I'll bet your highbeams really rock.

HID projectors are the way to go.

very nice, i would think u would mod the h1 a bit, like add more color or do the prism mod. i like so far, wat bulbs and wat wattage ballast? i like my osram d2s with 55watt, the aftermarket morimoto had some bad allignment

After this project and the vast improvement I got out of this I saw no need to mod. The color modding isn't that important to me anyways. Anyhow, I'm running 35W ballasts with real Phillips D2S bulbs with the Morimoto H1 4300K.
 
philips 85122 or the 85122+ ? im using the osram 66240 , from the looks of it, u are whiter than me, but they say osram will be white later on.
 
i forgot to tell u to make sure to use a harness on the hid kits, do like 4 seperate fuse link to the ballast incase a set goes out.
 
Oh believe me I've had that covered. I did a custom harness where each pair has it's own dedicated 30A relayed circuit.
