Quadsbc Scam

Quadsbc posts a supercharger and urd goodies for sale on 6/28, we agree on the urd goodies for $550. He states he needs the money soon, so PayPal him $275 to hold it, he then responds that his daughter is having health issues and needs the money. He returns me the $275 and tells me to send a moneygram to his daughter. So I do. Sent $560 3 weeks ago and I have no received items or and messages back... do not deal with this a$$hole. I bought a roof rack off him two years ago so I thought he was legit, big mistake. Post was taking down.

Sophisticated scammers

I've started cancelling any communication with someone who tells me they need the money for a family member. It's like they all use the same form letter to do their scams. I was looking for a Tacoma on CL and I'd find what looked like a REALLY nice one for a decent price. I'd text the number listed and they'd reply with "i'm selling it for (random family member), email them at ........ " So I would, and the reply would be almost the same every time:

"My (random close family member) just died 3 weeks ago and their memory is too strong and I need to cover funeral costs, I just want to get rid of the truck. I'll ship it to you for a test drive..."

I went through this exact exchange 3 times with different sellers in different CL cities.

:vader:

Money gram and Western Union are preferred scammer methods of taking your money since you as the sender have no recourse to get it back. I use PayPal only, especially if buying from an individual on a forum. That said, if you send it as a "gift" through PayPal, it is essentially the same as the aforementioned money sending services.

OP, sorry to hear about your situation. User Quadsbc was a regular in the 3rd gen section for a while, and regulars on this forum are the last person I would
have thought that would scam someone out of their hard earned money. Shame on him and hopefully karma catches up with him soon.

He responded back a few weeks ago, but still haven't received anything...

is it possible hes telling the truth?

if so, I don't think sending you your part is high on his list of priorities.

I understand you paid a while ago, and should have gotten your goods by now. but, assuming hes telling truth, how would you be handling things if your kid was sick, then died?

I don't know if its true or not, just saying, if it is....

Matt, this is the real quadsbc, I haven't logged on here in a year, just tried and my account password was locked. Then I saw this shit. Looks like my account was hacked. Same with tacomaworld and expedition portal. Looks like they tried to scam someone on tacomaworld too because my account was deleted. I did get your PayPal at the beginning of July, and returned it. I had no idea you were paying for this scam. There wasn't a way to post a message back when I returned it. I thought you paypalled the wrong person. Aside from that, I don't have any of your money, I've never owned a trd supercharger, my family has been in fine health, my oldest daughter is 3, and I've never been to Mississippi, my last name is not wright. You definitely got scammed, but I have no idea who. Can the mods lock my old account? Maybe they can do a little digging. I'm sorry you got scammed.

Yikes, can moderators look into login locations (IP addresses) of Quadsbc's account? Considering Quadsbc says it happened to him on other related forums, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a forum member behind this. This scammer seemed to know his supercharger stuff.

Best of luck with this guys.

Plot twist! Shitty situation all around. Time to get some of the guys on TW on the case. They love to find IP addresses and track down arseholes that scam people.

Thank you for being an adult about this. Yes, that is me. No need for weiner, I'm not the scammer, I'm the guy who returned Matt's PayPal.

Mmm pie is right, he returned my money I sent thru PayPal. So I did so researching, found that girl I sent the money, she knows who the person is but not giving me any info...

If this Xaviera person knows the scammer, perhaps you should get her local law enforcement involved. I wouldn't give her more personal info (mailing address etc), I'd treat her as an accomplice for now considering she seems to be giving you the runaround.

well then you just dodged a weiner bullet, but mark my words someone is getting the photoshop for this.
