If you had the money to spend on any of these 3 off road lights, is there a difference in quality between PIAA, HELLA or KC ?

Longer lasting bulbs ?

Better built light case ?

Heavier chrome (or other) finish ?

what's your .02 ?

There must be a reason that most off-road race teams (Baja, WRC, Dakar) use top of the line Hella.

I use top of the line Hellas and find they have good thick lens which hold up to stones nicely. They also have an excellent beam pattern which is the most important thing to consider. Their reflectors are very efficient. Since I use the black plastic housings I can't speak about chrome. The drawback is top of the line Hellas are expensive compared to many other brands.

Bulb life is subjective, you can use anyones bulb.

I think they all have a purpose and what you want to do with them, or how you want them to look makes a big difference in what you choose. You can get certain sizes and finishes on only certain models so you have to decide what you style, size, etc. you want. They are almost all the same but different.

The KC's, I had a set on a truck, did they work fine, yes. However would I buy them again, probably not. They sucked a lot of juice and I know there are better alternatives out there.

When you look at PIAA or Hella, I think they do a lot of research on how to get the most light output with the smallest wattage vs KC just throwing in a super powerful bulb in the case.

If I were in the market I would be looking into Lightforce, Hella and then PIAA. In that order. Lightforce has the super cool option of putting covers on their lights for certain conditions.

Warn also has a set of lights that can be switched from spot to like a flood with the flip of a switch. I thought that was a super cool option if you only wanted to mount 2 lights. I haven't seen them in person or any reviews but they had just come out at the time I was buying my KC's.

I would go Light Force, Baja Designs(Soltek or Fuego series), PIAA, Hella in that order if I had the money to have the choice. Actually if I had the money I would be doing LED light bars from either Vision X or Rigid industries.

I had a set of Hellas, nothing fancy. I think the 500 series. Well I had the covers on, but the lens/cover did not last the winter thanks to Mr. Plow. The the plastic case died when I hit a snow bank, snow.... come on. Never again. They are out of warranty, I think it was a year. I think I till get the KC slimlites. Way better warranty from what I underestand.
