Quality Tie Rod LBJ Parts??

Hey guys... time to change out my Tie Rods (inner right is out), so I'm looking to change all four, and maybe even my LBJs while I'm at it. Looking for who bought what and how's the quality. I bought Moog sway bar end links a while back and within a year and half when I went to take them off, I broke both of them. So I'm a bit gun shy about Moog now. O'Reilys tried to tell me about "Import Direct" parts, and after watching a video on their water pumps, I'm staying away from them!!

So I'm looking at Beck/Arnley.... Yes, No?? Any Better Suggestions?

Toyota oe only, don't waste your time or money on anything else

I'm not arguing Toyota OE parts one bit. I'm right there with you on the quality aspect. But in my research Inners from Toyota parts of Dallas was listed at $128 each. Outers were $48. Who makes (or made) these parts for Toyota? Can I get that manufacture parts without the Toyota brand and save $$$

Beck/Arnley is advertised as OE Replacement. The part that's throwing me is the word "replacement".

OE is defined as "is basically the original part used by the car manufacturer on the car when it left the factory."

Does the word "replacement" pretty much make that definition null and void?

Again, not kicking your advise to the curb... Just trying to clarify some of the terminology that I'm running into in doing research.

For the OTRE's I used Deeza, which are available from Rockauto and are greaseable! Otherwise, I stuck with Toyota for everything else.

If you can find out who makes the parts for Toyota that would be awesome but after seeing pics on this site of LBJ failures and the collateral damage that is incurred, I would not consider anything but OEM ,not OE replacement.
I am getting ready to replace mine before the end of this summer and the prices I have seen from the Toyota dealers mentioned in threads about the LBJs seem very reasonable. Good luck in your search.

Seems like LBJ prices are pretty close (within $10) with Beck/Arnley vs. Toyota. So that's a no brainer. What made me choke was the price of the inners. If I was just replacing the one bad one, no biggie. But both inners, outers, and LBJ add up quick. It kills me to do things half way, and that's why I'm spending a bit of time trying to research first.

I just sent an email to Dallas for a total shipping quote... That's another biggie for me here in Alaska.

I'm not sure who makes the parts for Toyota, hence why I buy the part from Toyota. If I knew the sorce, I'd try and get directly from them, and point you in that direction as well. I'm all about saving a few shillings, but some things are not worth the savings if the products are inferior.

Getting ready to email the Dealership in Anchorage (Alaska) for a price quote. The one time I was there and priced a thermostat they wanted almost $50 for it so I'm sure this will be entertaining... :wow:

I believe the OEM parts are made by Sankei 555. I used them (bought from Napa) on one of my 4Runners. Nice quality parts.

I used the 555 parts from Auto Zone a few years back for the inner and outer tie rods. They worked ok, however, I recently replaced both sides inner/outer and lbjs with OEM parts. I can say the OEM parts were painted and shouldn't rust near as easy as the 555 parts.

Forgot to mention that. Paint the 555 parts before install.

They only carry one type, not like napa which carries like 4 types. Part #ES3663

Edit: I just read that Alaska is apparently included in a new grey market ban that Toyota US has instituted to prevent US sellers from selling outside the US. So you are most likely going to be looking at parts from your local dealer or from a Canadian dealership.

Are you a fishing guide? I'll bring you the OEM stuff from LAX in exchange for guided trip up the Kenai, Kasilof River, or halibut off of Anchor Point.

Sankei 555 is NOT oem. Sankei 555 is often re-branded as Raybestos, Napa, Moog, and etc. I made another thread with my findings on lower ball joint manufacturers and why OEM is best. Im not sure who makes the OEM lower ball joints, but there is a noticeable difference between those and the Sankei 555.

If you want to save cost, sure go with an aftermarket brand for tie rod ends, and upper ball joints. But due to the non failsafe nature of the lower ball joints, I would ONLY go with OEM in that case.
