Question about DIY Body Lift with weld-on sliders

So I'm about to get a 1inch body lift and am debating whether or not I want to DIY this at home with a couple of friends.

The Toyota120 DIY seems to be the most detailed and recommended DIY out there for a body lift
4Crawler Body Lift

In the DIY thread, when they're talking about lifting the chassis off of the frame...

"We lifted the body below the B pillar area to balance out front and rear, as well as find the area of most strength on the body for a center lift. Folks with weld on sliders will have to find an alternative method of lifting the body."

So I have weld on sliders and I was wondering if anyone out there installed a body lift had weld-on sliders on their car at the time of the body lift install? And if so, where did you lift the chassis at?

Honestly I don't know... I keep putting off ordering a body lift kit because I should get new body mounts while I'm at it.

If you have a vehicle hoist it'd probably be pretty easy to do, but on a jack I'm not sure.

You could try to put a bottle jack in between the tire and inner fender well. I think I saw that someone did something similar and it worked for them.

I installed my 1.25" BL by myself without removing my Shrockworks sliders. There are basically 4 bolts per side, make sure you loosen both sides while you lift the body. I used a floor jack with a wood block on top to maintain contact with the body and distribute the load. The sliders were kinda in the way so I had to creatively position the block but as long as you are pretty close to right under the B-pillar it should be balanced. It honestly took more time to find and loosen all the bolts than actually jacking up and installing the BL. Like I said, I did the install by myself and it took about 4.5 hours including the radiator drop. For those thinking of getting new body mounts, I only found the mounts on the front corners to be deteriorating, the rest were in great shape.

When you guys do a body lift after installing sliders, is there a big gap between the slider and the bottom of the body?

Ideally, should the BL be done first, and the sliders welded on to match? Wouldn't this maximize clearance?

I would imagine it depends on preference, when I do my body lift I will probably not bother cutting the CBI Bolt-Ons and re-welding them higher on the brackets. My personal reason for this is because the increased gap between the body and slider will let me use them as running boards on top of their main protective purpose, something I can kind of do right now, but only with the doors open.

When is that happening? I'm interested to see how this will look.

My bamf sliders would have fit tighter against the body if I had a BL due to the angle the are at. Non the less they look good and have served their purpose.

Ugh... I don't know. I keep putting it off because I still need to order and entire set of body mounts (they're 10 years old and I like to off-road so they're probably not in good condition), not to mention I should probably throw extended brake lines on there as well since the BL won't help things. I am thinking for a 1.5" lift but I have though about maybe a 2.0" also since I want 35" MTs on the 4Runner eventually.

But I also need a whole set of Skid Plates (my factory front one literally fell off from the abuse and the bolt holes are stripped out, I've already up-sized and re-threaded them once...) as well as a bunch of other crap. There's also the issue of my personal life not helping me out, I am trying to save up money as well...

BUT, I think Blk-4Runner has a similar look on his rig. He has a 3" body lift on his, but I think he left his sliders in the "stock" position if I remember right. :)

yeah, but when i got the sliders, I wasnt planning on ever getting a body lift, but things change, and here I am...
