Question about Frozen Rotors

Ok, I need new front brakes on my 4Runner. I've looked through all the threads and I've seen that a lot of you have chosen Frozen Rotors or Brembo blanks.

I looked at Frozen Rotors website and I liked what I saw.....but the only thing I'm wondering is what kind of life have you guys been getting out of a set of these rotors?

My local Toyota mechanic (non dealership) is a Toyota certified mechanic and stated that he does not recommend aftermarket rotors because they tend to not last as long. But I'm sure he doesn't have the time to sit and research the parts like I do. He is recommending that I put on Toyota OEM rotors and that I should get 40,000 miles out of a set of rotors.

I'm not worried about his judgment of the OEM rotors, I'm just wondering if I'll get the same mileage from a set of the Frozen Rotors as I would the OEM ones. Because the Frozen Rotors actually end up being the same money, if not a little less.

So for you guys that have these on your 4Runners, let me know what kind of mileage you've see from them?

I'm not as worried about longevity as I am warping and since my OEM's warped easily I'm not even considering them.

That's what I meant by longevity.....have you had them warp, rust, crack.....anything that would have required replacement.

How long have you had them with out failure?

I forget when they first warped but it was around 20k. Had them resurfaced and they quickly warped again. I'm living with it right now until I have the time, money and less front pad left so that I can do the front pads at the same time.

So you still have the OEM rotors on yours....

Your in the same boat I'm in....I thought you had upgraded already.....:D

I guess I'd like to hear from RL Lemke to see how his have been doing....

Yes, I still have the OEM's on. The only reason I commented was because I wouldn't even consider replacing them with OEM and that anything aftermarket is worth a try because of how poorly the OEM's have performed for me. Plus as you say they wind up being cheaper in most cases and MUCH cheaper with certain aftermarket brands.

Well after speaking to my mechanic, he seemed interested in how these rotors would perform.....so I ordered them up....we'll see how they go with some OEM pads....:biggrin2:
