Question about how seats fold up differently based on model in 2010

Hey guys. First post.

So, I'm trying to figure something out here in terms of cargo space and how things fold up.

I've noticed where they have the cargo slideout tray installed that you lose some cargo space behind the driver seats because the second row seats fold down but stick up about a foot:

Now compare that to the cargo space with the extra row seating on the bottom image, and the second row doesn't stick up like that:

I guess my main question is for base owners that don't have third row seats and don't have the cargo tray. When you fold up the second row, do the seats stick up like the cargo tray 4R pictures or do they go flat like the third row picture?

Any help or insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

It is like the slide-out tray shown in the top 2 pictures.

I could be wrong here (dont own one yet) but it seems that the floor is raised for the third row seat option to give it a more flat/level plane appearance when the seat are folded flat. Otherwise without the option and or tray the floor sits lower?? Just a guess anyways.

You would be correct. Without the 3rd row or tray, the cargo area floor sits ~1.5" lower than the seatbacks when laid down.

Thanks for the reply guys. Just to make sure we're comparing the same thing, I highlighted the part I meant that sticks up. Not the part that is parallel to the cargo floor, but the part that sticks up vertically behind the front seats about 1 foot vs not sticking up at all with the 3 row option. Is that what you were referring to Quentin? Or the extra 1.5 inches or so that sticks up on the other part that others were mentioning?

Yup, the seat bottoms in the 2nd row flip forward and stick up above the load floor. The seatbacks on the 2nd row pivot flat against the body floor.
