question about pioneer navi system on 97 4runner

does anyone know if the pioneer avic-d1 or the avic-z1 fits in the 97 4runner? also does anyone have pictures of both. I really want to put the z1 in but im trying to figure out if it'll fit or not before i order it online or something

if you have a double din unit it should. I plan on putting a AVIC-z1 in my 2000 4runner in a couple of days. The Z1 is the best nav system out there. just wondering, where are you getting your nav from?

uhm, i checked on pricegrabber and somce places have it for 1,500 so im looking into that.

ok ive done the same too. I know there is this place in NJ that sells it online....their store is like a best buy there but....they are a trusted source and they sell it for 1515.00 with a pioneer warrenty. the web site is called www.6ave.com. and also if youve ever heard of cardomain.com they have a store located on that same site called sounddomain.com they sell the z1 for 1800.00 but they have this 110% price guarentee, basically they will beat anyones prices. You just have to show them the website and the they send you a code for checkout and it will lower the price to about 1600.00. They are a really good site to buy from. they have good revues. You can research some of the website companies before you buy at www.resellerratings.com because the last thing you want is to get screwed 1500.00 with no navi. hope this helps.

Just so you know... incase you don't... the D2 does not have a DVD drive. It has a separate drive for your nav disc so you don't have to take it in and out like you would with a N3, but to play DVDs you have to have another source.

BTW, be careful online. All these companies selling these Z1s for 1500 are pretty sketchy. I can tell you right now that 1500 is not even $100 over dealer cost.... and it retails at $2200. Plus if something goes wrong, you have to send it back to them and thats even if they warranty it. Pioneer probably does not offer a warranty of them they are just claiming that it does. Most companies will not honor any warranty unless the item is professionally installed and purchased from an authorized dealer, so beware. And you can find all this on every manufactures website.

Well said tarheel!! If yall check out pioneers website they have a list of the authorized online dealers. Yall shouldn't have any problem getting a D-1-2 or Z-1 to fit I've had all three in my 99 Sr5.

the z1 is sick. It is by far the baddest nav unit on the market. Even with my employee discount, that thing still has a pretty tag on it. I don't really need nav or half the stuff it offers, but its going in my 4runner.
