Question About Swapping Hoods

Hey all-
I am interested in finding a hood with a hood scoop on it. I currently have a non-scoop hood. MY QUESTION: are all third gen hoods compatible with each other? I have a 99 limited 4x4 millennium silver. Obviously, I am looking for the same color (to keep costs and legwork down), but can I look for any third gen, or does it have to be the same year? same package? thanks in advance.

ps. anyone local looking to swap hoods?

yeah they are all interchangeable.

Your best bet is going to see if there is a certifit near you. You can get the hood through them, then buy the insert piece from toyota. I've done that with both of my 3rd gens.

thanks snowrunner. do you remember how much certifit charged for the hood? and how much toyota charged for the insert? thanks

Hood from Certifit was $73. The insert is what sucks. All the parts for the insert was close to $140. If you can find an insert at the junk yard then you're all set. You do have to paint the hood though.

Man. The certifit route seems pricey. I will look at junkyards for the insert. I am really hoping to just find some person that does not really care and just talk them into swapping hoods with me. Perfect.
