Question about Tint

So snow, you have 20% on all your windows, including the front?

No, he has it on all the windows except the windshield. I would highly suggest not getting 20% on the windshield.

correct. 20% over the factory.

20% on the windshield would not be a smart idea. lol. You'd get pulled over so fast. Not to mention night driving would be very difficult. I want to get my windshield done, i'd probly go with the lightest I could get. Has anyone seen lighter than 35%?

Yeah that's what I meant. Haha I figure he didn't have 20% on his windshield, that'd be pretty ridiculous. Do most people get the same amount of tint on their front two windows as they have on the back? That would make the most sense to me so that it looks even all over.

I'm just trying to get an idea of what certain levels of tint will look like and what other people went with. I like how yours looks, sn0wrunner, so that's what I'm leaning towards. Do you have the same Clemson? How much $ did it run you?

I have 45% on mine Snow.

David- Right now I have just 20% on the fronts and 45% on the windshield. I'm going in the next few weeks to get at least 20% put on the rest of the windows.

My two fronts were $60 for both. I think a good range for those is $50-$75.
My brow was $20. That's about the average price.
My windshield was $80. This price is going to vary a lot as some shops don't even do it.

Ok gotcha. Do you have a pic of what the 20% looks like on your two fronts?

And what do you mean when you say "brow"?

Here is a picture of the brow. It really helps in my opinion. You can see it at the top of the windshield.

Here are a couple of the sides. It is pretty darn sunny outside. For some reason the fronts look darker than the rears, but in person I really can't tell a difference. The angle isn't that good either.

Looks good! Thanks for the pics. I think that's probably what I'll end up doing, 20% all around. Dunno if I'll do anything with the windshield though.

you'll be really happy with how much darker it is once you get the tint. When you stand in front of mine and look through the windshield you cant see out the rear window.

Notice in this pic, the lexus next to me just has factory tint and you can see strait through and with mine its just black. lol. Kind of a bad pic though... and the reason you cant see through the runner next to the lexus is because his spare tire is mounted in front of the back window.

Yeah man. I see what your talking about.

That means 45% windshield + 20% rear window= pretty dark. Now I just gotta save some money.

My dad wasen't too happy to hear that I bought new headlights. :bash:

So that's 20% on top of the factory for the 2 front windows? And then just the stock tint for the rear?

I'm trying to decide whether I want to just get 20% on the fronts and then leave the rears. Or get 20% on top of the factory for both the front and back windows. If you get 20% over the factory for the back 3 windows, what % does that give you? In NC/MD it's only legal to have 35% so I'm wary about getting 20% over the factory if that's going to give me like 5% in the end.

Those pictures are 45% windshield and 20% on the fronts, which did not have any factory tint on them before. No rear tint in those pictures.

If you put 20% on the rears then you will come out in the range of 5%. .2 X .25= .05

Maybe ask around and see what people say about tint for your area.

Ok yeah I understand a little better now. So then if I went with 20% all around, that would make the rears look darker than the fronts because it would be 5% compared to 20%. But sn0wrunner's with 20% all around appears to be the same color. Haha I'm really slow to understand some things :bash:

Yeah your right. Snow does have 20% all around and in pictures it apears to be well matched. I would have to say though if you put 20% all around your fronts will be lighter in direct sunlight. There is no way around it. The rears have the tinted back window, but the fronts have the windshield which sun light goes right through.

Just thought I would update this thread. I ended up with 15% on all the rears. It is much darker. At night it's semi hard to see out the back. I can't back up without rolling down the rear window if there are no lights around.

I might go back and get 5% on the fronts so it will match. It is barley off right now. Wish I would have gone with 5% to start with on the fronts. :bash:

Here are some pictures:

Nice man, that looks great!

I just did the 15% all the way around on mine with 50% on the windshield. I love it, its the perfect balance of darkness and visibility for me.

I was thinking of redoing my front windows to 5%, but I mostly use my mirrors to back up so I think I will leave it.

I also installed led reverse lights. They look good, but I think halogens might have put out more light

I totally agree man. I could have gone with 5% all around or whatever, but in my opinion that would be too dark at night.

I was thinking about putting LED bulbs in my tail lights to get some more light, but I don't think those would put out enough light. I don't really like the look of reverse lights though. I guess I'll just live with rolling down my window. :)

Rule of tint: If you are choosing between 2 tint % always choose the darker one. :D

Otherwise you'll just end up getting it eventually anyways.
