Question about X-Reas and Rear Air Suspension

I've decided to buy a 2005 Limited rather than a Sport because it seems almost impossible to get a 2005 Sport with side and curtain airbags. I know that the X-REAS suspension system is standard on the Sport, but I notice there is an option for the Limited for X-REAS shock absorbers (NH) and Rear Air Suspension (NF). Do I need to get both of these options to have the X-REAS suspension system that is standard on the Sport?

To my knowledge, I have never seen a 4Runner that had XREAS without the ride height. I think if it has the XREAS, it will have the ride height. In my region, the Limited's either have nav, XREAS, and ride height or they have the JBL premium radio and no XREAS nor ride height.

i've got XREAS and no ride height, it wasn't available in 2003. i also have the side and curtain airbags and jbl 10 speaker navigation. i'm in northern california.
 
So could someone help me to understand what is provided by the X-REAS shock absorbers and the rear air suspension? I don't understand the differences in what each contributes.

I had rear air susp and X-REAS on my 03 Ltd (and on the 05). Basically, X-REAS hydraulically links diagonal wheels for more stable and flatter cornerning.

Rear air susp allows you to manually vary the height of of the truck's ass-end, while also providing automatica load-leveling. I really like the load leveling, because when loaded down with lots of people/gear or towing the boat, the rear-end never hangs low or looks sacked out. Also haved used the manual feature for hitching/unhitching the boat in tricky spots a few times.

If I had the option of choosing, X-REAS is a MUST have item, and rear air susp would be a might-as-well-cause-the-truck's-already-expensive item :)
 
Between those two options, the XREAS is more important by far. XREAS does a great job in cornering and eliminating body roll. It makes it feel less like an SUV. The ride height is only good if you are towing or want to lower the truck in order to load heavy cargo into it easier.
 
The rear air suspension includes XREAS. You can also get XREAS alone without the air suspension. You either get both, or just XREAS.

The Sport Edition only comes with the XREAS suspension and not the rear air suspension, so you can just get the XREAS option on your Limited if that's all you're looking for. Of course, it all depends on your region, some areas of the country don't offer XREAS or air suspension at all.
 
almost wish i didn't have XREAS

Dudes, i don't know about ya'll... but on one hand, after talking to good times about a lift... and others too... i am thinking about taking my XREAS off so i can put a fully custom suspension, 4 or 5 inch coil spring with shocks setup... remove my stabalizer bar... i want 35's on with CLEARANCE for serious flexibility.... i don't wanna bounce through mud going 40mph, i prefer to drive with skill and technique to conqur stuff... plus a great riding trail vehicle.... after my roger brown 1.5" body lift comes in, install it , then i'll reconsider.... but i might be one of the few to extract XREAS....
