question after coilover install

I saw your pics yesterday and thought them thar Bilsteins were on the highest perch. Pretty sure that's a Taco Bilstein so top setting would be 2.5" of lift with stock spring. That with 3" Eibach is too much. Too tall Jones. I'm surprised your CV's haven't gotten extremely angry yet. I wouldn't drive that thing too much until you get them adjusted back down.
 
ugh.....so i took them all apart today put the c clip at the middle setting put it all bach together and now theres still a gap atop the shocks? wtf? arg the only thing i can think of is to put some washers under the shock bolt....drives a bit better but theres noise when i hit any bumps wich is the top of the shock bolt slapping the washer and bushing....can i just put some washers?

Something is still not right there. Are you positive that all the bushings under the top hat are installed correctly? You shouldn't need extra washers.

yup everythings on there correctly, the top bolt is threaded all the way....i went out and got some washers,gonna see if it will work...
 
First, if you have the Tacoma 5100's with the 3 clip settings, the clip has to be on the bottom for the shocks to work with those Eibach coils. You will have too much lift and risk ripping apart with any other setting.

Second, There is a little retainer/spacer that is used to hold a shock boot onto the shaft of the shock if you choose to run one. You must have that spacer installed even if you are not running a shock boot. It is suppose to be the 1st piece installed on to the shock shaft and will sit below the lower retaining washer. Is that installed?

With all the correct pieces installed, the shock shaft, top nut, bushing, etc should not move up down compared to the frame when you bounce the truck.

there supposed to be on the very last bottom setting eh? ugh where were you yesterday lol i spent yesterday lowering from the 3rd ring to the second ugh....
 
I don't have this front set up on a 4runner, but I do have the (exact?) same setup on my 1st gen tacoma, which should be identical part numbers. I have the front Bilstein 5100 adjustable struts and Eiback 620 coils, which I believe is the same setup you are running. If so, you might be running the struts on the wrong setting. I see from your picture that the lower spring cup and c-clip is on the highest setting, which I believe is incorrect.

When I ordered my setup from Toytec, they specifically stated that the Eibachs on the 5100's had to be run on the lowest setting (0"), which is the bottom "c" clip setting, given the Eibach's give the lift, rather than the strut itself.

Again, not sure if this is exactly true with 4runners, but I believe it is since the 3rd gen runner and 1st gen taco share similiar front end suspension components. Plus that coil looks like it has a ton of preload and the UCA's look extremely stressed from excessive lift.

This was stated on page 2!
