question for all you kayakers

soooo....i have an 03 4runner...got the baja rack mule up top with the light bar...ive recently got into yakkin' and am thinking about making a yak purchase in the near future....my question is...how ami gonna haul this thing up top...ive looked at options but not sure if it will work on my mule....any ideas or solutions...much thanks peeps...

A cheap & easy way to handle it would be to get a set of Yakima Kayak Blocks. You can find a set for about $40 or even cheaper at some sites. When you want to use the yak, just stick the blocks on the front & rear bars & then tie it down. When you don't need them, just take them down. I just put a cargo basket on my 4R a few months ago & have been searching for options too... this was the easiest & definitely the cheapest that I have come up with so far. Good luck!

welcome to yakkin' its a lot of fun. i didn't want to put it on the roof rack because i park in a parking garage, so the option i found best was to put the seats down and set it in the trunk with the back window open. i rigged up a "sling" for the trunk so that the yak doesn't rest on the bottom rear window trim. im pretty through and rinse/dry my kayak after every trip so... that may be something you would be interested in trying. its $free.
