Since we have Spring/Summer weather here in the San Francisco Bay Area lately and Winter will be entirely bypassing us and the Sierras this year, I thought I'd get an early start on some of the mods I was planning to do this Spring. (I have no garage, so these all get done outdoors!)
The first one I need to do is to add more power outlets.
My plan is to add:
I'm putting together my plans and steps using the awesome DIY: 12volt socket/outlet in door panels thread, which has been extremely helpful in identifying some of the things I need to do and think through--splicing, separate circuits for each AC socket and each of the dual USB sockets, and so forth.
So I'm thinking:
(1 AC front right dash area + 1 AC cargo area = 2 direct circuits for the AC)
(1 per door * 4 doors + 1 cargo + 1 front right dash area = 6 direct circuits for the USB.)
The original thread above was only adding 12 volt sockets. I'm looking to add USB ports and AC sockets, which I want to be able to fully charge attached devices. Things like the iPad draw a lot of power in order to be able to charge at full speed.
At what point would I be putting too much draw on these new devices? Or would they have no problem handling it as long as they're on their own circuits?
Would I need to add a second battery?
I know I do NOT want to draw power from existing factory wires. I'd prefer the new power outlets have no impact at all on other accessories or power lines even if all of the new ones are in use and charging devices that use a lot of power.
I know nothing about electricity and have never done any "under the skin/hood" mods to my car; this is my first! I'm really excited to do it, but want to make sure I think through it all carefully. Don't worry, I will have the close supervision and help of my father in law who knows considerably more about how to do things like than I do, and has experience as an electrician. But I still want to have a well thought out plan before he and I attempt this.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

- Dual USB to each of the 4 door panels (so all 4 passengers can have charging slots for a phone and another device)
- AC and dual USB underneath the glove box/passenger cabin area (to have a fixed power spot for an iPad I have mounted in the front with a Joy Factory folding car mount while I'm on road trips and offroad)
