Question for the lift experts

Okay, I can understand how adding a shim or spacer above or below the coil where is captured can give a lift increase of about two to one, depending on the spring rate. But, I just can't wrap my head around why something like the Toytec spacers, installed above the top hat on the coilover, would supply anything other than one to one in lift ..

Anyone care to enlighten me?

Just plane geometry. The lower control arm is attached to a fixed point on the frame and the other end is attached to the bottom spindle on the wheel assembly. Somewhere in between is the spring. Assuming it is halfway between the frame attachment point and the wheel spindle attachment point -> if you shim the end of the spring down 1 inch the spindle will be pushed down 2 inches.

If that doesn't explain it I'll draw you a picture next time.

On rear wheels with solid axles the geometry is different.
